Oral Herpes?

I broke up with my boyfriend about a month ago. About two weeks ago, we hooked up and had sex.. No oral. A couple days later, my bottom lip at the edge in the middle started to itch really bad and was dry. I tan in tanning beds so I just thought it was sunburned. For the next few days, I used my regular chapstick that I use every day. When that didn't work, I bought Neosporin lip treatment for very dry lips. Now my lip is very dry to the point that I have tiny cuts in my lip that bleed and the skin is flaky.. The spot on my lip also tingles. Now my top lip is beginning to get dry and tingly. I didn't think that it could be herpes because I don't have any blisters. However, I know its a possibility because of the timing (tingling started a couple days after I kissed him, which was only for two seconds). Does this sound like oral herpes?

You didnt mention if your lip became red when it first broke out on the edge, I assume it might have been. I also had a similar break out at the edge of my lips that was itchy, dry, and red that ran along the edge of my lip. Like badly chapped. I'm also concerned that I got oral herpes and the doc said that it doesnt seem like a typical case, mostly because mine has lasted 2 months, with various symptoms. He gave me a topical steriod cream which cleared it up in a couple days but I'm still not convinced that its not herpes. It could be nerves and if your playing with it constantly, it wont help the dryness. Does your tingly sensations last all the time or does it come and go? As far as I know oral herpes show blisters. How long have these symptoms been showing? It could also be from tanning, that dries out your lips and it could be irritating your skin. If you find out anything, please let me know since Im still looking for answers too.

this could be many things.  I'd stop using the neosporin lip treatment just in case it's a reaction to that.  If it's still this bad monday, see your provider.
