Oral next from someone with a cold sore

I'm not sure where to post so I'm sorry.

Yesterday I kissed and received oral sex from a guy. The next day he had a cold sore come up.
My ex used to get cold sores but I've never knowingly had one.
Am I at risk of genital herpes as he had a cold sore come up the next day?
Is my risk higher as we kissed and had oral sex the day before his cold sore appeared?

On my last smear it tested positive for hpv but I have never had any issues and I know nothing about it.
Thank

Further to this I have spoken to the guy again, he has never had a cold sore before.
He said he thought he had nicked himself while shaving before the sore came up.
I know I am at risk I can just pray that the virus wasn't on the skin surface or that's it's actually a very cold sore looking razor cut but from his cold sore am I more likely to get oral or genital herpes or are they both as likely as each other?
Also what is the quickest time I could experience symptoms?
Thanks

Thank you. One last question, am I more likely to get a cold sore than genital herpes as he had a cold sore?

No she he must of had the virus before. I can't remember if we were intimate around the time of a sore. I know we would of kissed.
If it possible I could of had genital herpes for 9 years without knowing?
Thanks

Symptoms dont appear the next day from a recent exposure and if you ex never was intimate with a lip sore, the risk you contacted herpes is very low.

Thank u for your reply. He said he never gets them, which to me means he must of experienced it before. He is away on business so can't get tested. I have seen the sore today and it doesn't looked blistered just a red patch.
As my ex used to get cold sores is it likely that I already have the virus and just haven't had symptoms?
Thanks

Hi, since it was the day before, the virus may not have been on the surface yet but if it was and there was rubbing contact, then yes there is a risk for contracting it in both areas. The best approach to this is for him to have a blood test now for hsv1 and 2 or have the lip sore swabbed now.
