Oral sex

My boyfriend and I have been together (no cheating) for over a year. We both had std testing done. We are both positive for hsv1 (both of us get canker sores, neither of us have ever had a genital outbreak). We both have canker sores right now (mine on side of cheek and his is on his lower inside lip). Last night we were stupid and gave each other oral (for less than a minute). Now Im freaking out!

1. can the hsv1 be tranferred to our private areas from this quick exposure, if we both have canker sores?

Well, assuming you both in fact have oral herpes (cold sores), then it gives you each significant protection against transmitting it genitally via oral sex. Just don't do it when you have an outbreak, that also protects you...

I was under the impression that canker sores are not HSV1 that only cold sores are. I also thought you could only get cold sores on the outside of the mouth. I just tested positive for HSV1 and plan on posting my experience with some questions, but I hope this helps. - if it's right that is
