PCR - Polymerase Chain Reaction Test

PCR - Polymerase Chain Reaction Test

How accurate is the PCR test for Herpes HSV-1/HSV-2?
I had the PCR test done and the HerpesSelect blood test done as well.
On the PCR  - stated negative for HSV1 and positive for HSV2
On the Herpes Select blood test stated .3 on the HSV 1 IGG Type Specific AB test and stated 2.22 on the HSV 2 IGG Type Specific AB test.
Should I take this as a final answer of a positive diagnosis for HSV2 or are they other options based on the results?
Thank you so much and have a great weekend.

ok so I read your  more recent additions to your previous post and you say it was a pcr culture of your symptoms.

when I initially asked you what caused you to get tested, if you hadn't been so angry and rude and had just said that you had symptoms on your cervix ( I presume from your other post ) that your provider cultured and you also had a blood test at the same time, it would've helped me give you a more precise answer immediately.  A + blood test and a + lesion culture means you don't need any other additional testing at all. You have hsv2.  It's confirmed.

herpes on your cervix is genital herpes.  It's not unusual for symptoms to occur on the cervix especially with the initial infection. It's part of why women don't always know that they are infected.  It's the exact same though as if you had a herpes lesion on your actual external genitals.

If you have a regular partner, they too need tested for herpes to see what their status is. If you don't currently have a partner, then just wait to discuss this with any future partners. Encourage them to get properly tested for herpes prior to sex so that you can make educated decisions together about what precautions to take together.

..first..thanks for responding..second thats your opinion about my response from our initial exchange..
..im aware herpes on the cervix is genital herpes..its the same except you would be able to see the lesions on the actual external genitals vs where its impossible to see lesions on your internal cervix..i still have the same symptoms i had before getting tested and taking valtrex..which leaves me wondering if this could all be a nightmare..well, that and wondering if there is room for a false positive..but based on your response..no need for further testing if both test came back positive..even if i had a low score on the IGG test and im still have all the same symptoms..
..again..thanks for responding..

did they treat your herpes with any antivirals?

also if you aren't better in 2 or 3 weeks, return to be seen again and get tested for  yeast and bacterial infections vaginally too. Not unusual for bv especially to be present when you are infected as well as sometimes a humdinger of an ob will trigger your ph to alter enough to allow vaginitis to occur which can prolong ob's as well as mimic them.

..antivirals..is that valtrex?..
..i took that for like 7 days..and then i got checked again..he did a pH test..and although it looked like bv it was on the yeast side..which he also treated..well the doc performed cyrosurgery a little over a week ago..and that takes 6 weeks to fully heal..but so far..all has remained the same..i still have the same symptoms..but he told me to wait it out..since it makes sense it will discharge..defrost..
..thanks..
