PCR accurate before drainage?

Hello,
I've recently experienced another bout of red bumps on the foreskin last Sunday (recurrent for many months). It was not preceded by sex and just came about on its own. I experienced some itching the night before it developed. As soon as a noticed the bumps I went into emerge to have it swabbed, and received my results today - negative. The test was a Roche LightCycler Real-Time PCR Swab.

The doctor seemed to swab it thoroughly (I told him he could break one of them open), but I believe the bumps were left intact and drained later on during the day. Would the swab still be able to pick up the virus before the lesions opened, or does there have to be actual drainage for detection?

Thanks.

With all the negative tests youve had proves you dont have hsv. If you had it it would surely show up on the igg test even the combo test. Red bumps could be inflamed hair folicales are your causing it yourself by constant touching and picking.

Had another blood test done (combo) and it again came back negative.. Some doctors have suggested yeast but i'm not entirely sure judging by the recurrent nature of my issues. However, the repeated negative blood tests
(for both HSV 1 and 2) in combination with negative swabs (including pcr) must point against HSV? Over a year now and still trying to figure this out.

5 bloods tests over a years time, all 3 months or longer after exposure. Has anyone else had an experience like this, and if so, ever come to a solution?

In my mind, if it is a possible HSV infection it can only be HSV1, as HSV2 is more likely to be picked up through the available testing.. even still, you'd think the test would have picked up HSV1 at least once. Always non-reactive.

Ok, I guess i'll have to consider further testing then and break it open myself in future situations.

I was hoping by using the best swab test available and going in as soon as symptoms were visible, I would get a trust-worthy result. Diagnosing this issue is incredibly difficult it seems.

They should be open to pick up any fluids as thats where any virus would be but it would appear that you are irritating the area scratching it in your sleep as you mention itching at night.

I've also tested negative 3 and 5 months post exposure using an EIA IGG Pool HSV1/HSV2 test from Euroimmun.

Doctor put me on Diflucan (i've taken this before and bumps came back). Really driving me nuts that I can't get to the bottom of these clearly visible recurring symptoms.
