Painful bumps

Hi, thanks for taking the time to look at this! About three days ago I noticed two slightly raised pinkish/reddish bumps on my frontal groin area separated by an inch or two. They didn’t look like blisters in that they didn’t have a fluid filled top that I could see. The more significant bump of the two was located about an inch above my penis and appeared to have a small whitehead in it that was buried under the skin. I left it alone for two days and then last night foolishly decided that I would try to pop it. The bump was slightly tender when I started and as I popped it, a small amount of a whitehead like substance came out. It was a little ball, slightly bigger than a sharpened pencil point, very small but I could see it. As I continued to apply pressure I started to feel some significant pain, more than I would usually attribute to a pimple. I fiddled with it off and on throughout the night and by the time I went to bed it was very sore. This morning it was less sore but it still hurts. An area about the size of a half dollar around it is sore to the touch and I noticed a new pink/red raised spot somewhat near my groin fold but it doesn’t have any sort of center to it. Due to the very small amount of whitehead material that came out and the pain I am experiencing from this bump it makes me wonder if it was maybe a herpes outbreak instead of a zit as I first though. I’ve never had noticeable symptoms in the past and I was tested for herpes as part of my annual screening a couple of months ago and was negative for both types by igg. Does this suggest herpes to you? Thanks!

My herpes lesions never have puss or whiteheads associated with them. Usually it is a pimple that is like that.

At this point, be seen within 48 hours of having symptoms for a swab/culture if you are concerned about herpes. And, get an IgG test at least 3 months post encounter. However, a one time encounter is low risk, so keep that in mind.

Consider protected sex, then you won't have to go through this every time. It works!

Yeah, I should have mentioned those details, sorry about that. I guess Im just a little nervous about this. I have had one exposure since being tested and that was a little over a month ago and it was unprotected. The girl told me she didn't have anything (for whatever that is worth) but I don't know when she was tested last or if she was ever tested for herpes.

Can a herpes sore release a whitehead like material? Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

It surely didn't help that you constantly irritated and fooled with it.

We'd only be guessing what this is, so see your medical provider if concerned. You mention nothing of what/when you had a sexual encounter as well, nor if you know or can find out said partner's herpes status. But even so, you'd need to be seen.
