Painful zit or possible cold sore?

So either Sunday night or Monday, I can't remember which, I noticed a bump in the right corner of my mouth. Now I know there's little bumps there naturally, but this one was a little swollen and hurt when I applied pressure too it. I did squeeze at it, didn't really get much out of it, it was pretty watery. I've been squeezing at it, then putting astringent on it followed by Neosporin. It feels pretty sore, and hurts when I open my mouth wide. It doesn't hurt for me to push on it but if I rub it, it eventually stings a little. Doesn't itch, and I don't recall any tingling or numbness or burning before I noticed the swelling, but I still keep getting the horrifying thought of what if it's a cold sore? I can't recall ever having one in my life. Someone please tell me what I should do

Here's the issue, no one on any forum can test or diagnose you. Asking questions on forums like this can give you direction, but only an MD can give you what you really need. Find another alternative than mom. You will never have the peace you want unless you get tested.

Well my mother is refusing to take me to the doctor so I'm really panicked now. So I guess I'll just give more information on what it looks like today. I'd already popped it and it's been open and kinda scabbed up. But it's looked about the same for a day or two, the open area is pretty red. If it were a cold sore wouldn't the open part have turned that whitish grey by now?

If the doctor says it's nothing, please push him / her to get it swabbed just in case. Doctors are not always knowledgeable about HSV. Good luck. Hang in there. Let us know how it goes.

Go to your doctor asap and get your sore swabbed to see if its HSV. Better to know just to be safe and eliminate what you're worried about. You have to get it swabbed before it dries up.

I have heard cold sores develop into a blister within a day or so. So if it was a cold sore it probably would have done that by now. I think it is probably a pimple and nothing to worry about. However, I can not see it online so I can't tell you for sure. If you are really concerned about it have it checked by a doctor.
