Yeah I'm in the uk. Will see if I can find somewhere that does it. But in the mean time I will go to gum clinic next time I have symptoms and see if they can take another swob.
Thanks
if you are in the UK, you will only be able to get type specific herpes igg blood testing done through your private provider. the gum clinic doesn't offer them. the rates of hsv1 genitally are higher than hsv2 in the UK so it's well worth confirming your status to know which you have. Your partner will also need tested to know their status.
Thanks for the advice. I think I'm gonna go to the docs. They've never really been that helpful in the past both at the gum clinic or at my gps they just have prescribed be aciciclovor (however its spelt) and sent me on my way.
Will try and see if I can get a blood test but I'm pretty sure I have them them on my genitals as I had a classic primary outbreak with flu symptoms and blisters. I'm not too worried about that as such Im just more curious as to whether the cuts I have are herpes outbreaks or if it's something else and if other people experience different types of outbreaks. Me and my b/f don't have sex when I have these cuts either, as I would feel terrible if I gave it to him although I think he is far less stressed over it than me!!
Thanks for your help
the best thing to do is to be seen and get this looked at. You should be properly tested for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally when you are seen. do not self treat.
yeast infections can cause the genital skin to thin and become excoriated. anytime you have paper cut type symptoms , be seen for proper follow up to try to get to the bottom of things.
certainly follow up with proper herpes igg blood testing to see if you have hsv1 or hsv2 too. You and your partners can't make educated decisions on what precautions to take until you know who has what. Sounds like at this point you don' t even know if you really have genital herpes or not even!
