. If we refrain from kissing, could my partner still get HSV-1? (Assuming I my partner has no contact with the actual outbreak, either orally or genitally.) Since the virus lives inside me, will ANY fluid exchange pass it, regardless of the location of the outbreak?
I know, of course, my partner can get it from kissing me, and it can be spread to other areas of the body by performing oral sex
Thanks for your reply! My partner is being tested ASAP.
Can you or anyone else out there throw your two cents in about which brand of over-the-counter medicine is most effective in speeding the healing process of an outbreak? I went to the drugstore today and read the ingredients of about 8 different brands. Some claim to simply treat the symptoms (tingling, pain, burning, itching
- my case is mild and I experience none of those) while others say they treat the symptoms and speed healing. Mysteriously, the active ingredients in each medicine seem to be different.
Evidently, there is no particular tried and true, generally accepted active ingredient to treat cold sores, because I rarely saw ingredients repeated from one brand to another.
abreva is very overpriced and barely got fda approval to say it speeds the healing of cold sores faster. I don't recommend paying the money for it at all.
most topicals only speed the healing of cold sores by 1-2 days or not at all. mostly they are for pain relief more than anything.
