Penis rash & small red bumps

Okay, I posted here a few days ago about getting painless small red bumps on the head of my penis and was worried about having herpes. The original bumps went away and the nurse at the STD clinic said they didn't look like herpes so I became less worried. (I got a blood test and results are still pending.)

This morning when I woke up, i noticed a red rash on the skin of the shaft right below the head of my penis. I didn't feel any sensations at first but for the past few hours, there's been a slight tingling/mild burning sensation. Not sure if it's becaues i kept inspecting the rash or if it's something more serious. There're also a few additional red bumps/pimples on the head of my penis similar to the ones that went away. None of the pimples are on the rash and the pimples are still painless and i don't feel anything.

Now i'm getting paranoid again. Could I have herpes? It's the holidays so it'll be another week before i can get my test results. It's been 3 weeks since I've had sex which was protected cept for a brief moment of unprotected contract with the exterior of the vagina - no penetration. I also masturbated about 3-4 days ago so maybe that's the cause of the rash?

Someone please help... I've been having trouble concentrating on work and been lacking an appetite because I keep worrying about having herpes.

If you went to an STD Clinic and they say it's not herpes, you can pretty much gurantee it isn't!! They are the best at seeing and knowing what herpes looks like. If it were a family Doc, I would say it needs more investigating.

thanks slacker101. the basis for my worry is because when i went to the clinic, the pimples i had were already beginning the disappear, they were very mild when i showed the nurse at the STD clinic and at the time, i didn't have a rash or any tingling sensations.

now that i'm having a rash with tingling sensation and some more pimples, i'm worried again. sucks that my results wont be back until end of the week due to holidays.

What's your take on my symptoms? why am i having a rash and more pimples? is it better that the pimples are not on the rash? the rash is on the shaft right below the rim whereas the pimples are on the head... thanks again for your help. Also, what's your expertise in herpes & other STDs? you seem to comment on a lot of the posts and your help is much appreciated.

I am not sure what the basis of your rash is but chances are you are touching it and maniupulting the area to make it more red. The skin there is very sensitive. Pimples on the penis is common. the tingling sensation is most likely caused by your brain due to anxiety. Believe it or not, a physical pain can be brought on by nerves. I don;t think your blood test will detect herpes (possible HSV1 from when you were younger) but not from what you have here.

Just out of curiosity, is it common to have a few painless pimples on the penis, have them go away, and then develop a couple new pimples as well as a rash during an initial herpes out break? What's also funny is my rash tingles the most when I'm at home. When I'm out and about, it rarely tingles.

I've read that some initial herpes outbreaks can be very mild and you may not have a noticable outbreak for years. If I do have herpes, could I have had it for a while and am just now getting a noticable outbreak?

a pimple is not herpes. The tingle you feel at home and not anywhere else is probably where you have been thinking about logging onto the internet and proving you have it when you don't. It;s call anxiety and focusing on your genitals.

Maybe I have another condition then... I will go see the doctor again this week. The rash went away and now i have a new pimple that's bigger then previous ones and it's very red and looks almost like an ulcer but it doesn't hurt and it hasn't broken the skin. Not sure why I keep getting these symptoms back to back. Really stressing me out and my STD test results won't be back till later this week. Any additional help and comments would be appreciated. I'm starting to go crazy!!!

Hey buddy, I would go see a dermatologist. They are skin experts and would be a very good judge as to if you have an STD or not.

Thanks. I will try to go see a dermatologist and get their opinion as well. Just was hoping that someone on this board has heard of or is familiar with my symptoms. It's quite frustrating and i feel like i'm constantly under high stress and high anxiety.

Do you feel like you are making yourself sick ? The derm. is the best judge of STD, better than any nurse or Doc. The doctors will refer you to a Derm.

I thought I could be making myself sick but didn't think I can be getting pimples on my penis and rashes just by thinking too much. I do fear STD a lot and it's frustrating because I feel like my symptoms fit those of herpes but not the typical order these symptoms seem to occur and not as aggressive as symptoms should be (e.g. i have sores/pimples but they don't develop into ulcers, i felt tingling and a rash but that went away, now i have a bigger sore/pimple but it's still painless and itch free...)

I will wait for my STD test results and then schedule a time to see a dermatologist. Really hope it nothing but I've never experienced something like this before and am definitely stressing myself out. I feel like having and STD or herpes is gonna ruin my life, i'm still in my 20s...
