If someone has a positive IGg and IGm result for HSV I and a positive IGg result (1.7)but negative IGm result for HSV II does this mean they are infected with the virus? There is no previous signs of an outbreak nor anything associated with herpes, the blood test is the first inkling to this problem. Is the virus in their body? Can they pass it on to new sexual
A hsv2 igg of 1.7 is a low positive and needs confirmation that it's a true positive. If it really is a true positive then yes you can transmit the virus.
to waringblender: he got the test 4 months after "screwing me" and I dont have any issues so does that mean he is not infected?
to gracefromHHP: should i get him to get tested again with just the IGg or also the IGm to see if its a true positive? how long should he wait between testing?
I don't even understand what your last post means. What are your "issues?"
Don't bother with IgM testing. It's recommended all over this forum and the doctor side not to get this test. Why are people still throwing this out as a test they need?
to waringblender: hi sorry with regards to issues I mean I have never had anything to show that i may have contracted herpes (no sores, etc..) and he has never had them either and we have been together for six months. If he hadnt had the tests done showing that he has hsv 1 positive and IGg Hsv II 1.7, we would have never known that he had been exposed to herpes. I just want to understand is this in his body and can he pass this on to me? does exposed mean infected? thank you again
Please take heed to grace's earlier response to you:
