Please help!

I have been having some pain near the opening of my vagina.  I really can not explain the pain but its almost as an irritating burning.  I only feel it when i'm in a certain position, its not constant.  I thought I might have accidentally cut my self while shaving and that is why the area is irritated.  I went to my gyno three days later and he didn't mention anything about a cut and took a culture.  He also gave me prescribed me Zovirax ( an ointment to treat genital herpes. )  Does anyone have any ideas what else it can be?  The results come back in a week but I'm stressing real bad... Thanks.

zovirax really doesn't do much at all for genital herpes.  Your provider should've prescribed oral antivirals instead. Encourage your provider to read the current pdr listing on zovirax ointment to get updated on treatments for their patients.

Give your provider a call and ask if your test results are back yet. It only takes 2 or 3 days.

If you have a regular partner, they will need a type specific herpes igg blood test. You should get one too if your culture comes back negative since cultures have a high false negative rate.

the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com is free and up to date with terrific info fo rmore reading.
