Okay. thanks. I've attempted to do some research on the PCR testing and I have only seen that blood/serum PCR tests are unreliable when it comes to negative results but did not see anything about false-positives. I will probbaly request a Western blot at my next appt. I'd never had positive HSV2 results prior to the DNA, PCR blood test (never have had, as you mentioned, active lesions to even have tested). I just didn't know if all PCR blood tests can be assumed inaccurate or just those that have negative results.
Most blood tests are pretty accurate but the western blot is the preferred. Swabbs are pretty much 100% accurate for showing a positive but are famous for showing a false negative.
The problem with your 2 tests is that one shows positve and then the other shows a negative. Thats why i feel there was a mx up. The one show a negative and then a positive is really not the one thats confusing.
Thanks so much! Would you happen to know how accurate DNA, PCR tests are when they are simply serum(blood) and not swabbed tests? In regards to positive results?
Hi, your last test is most likely the correct one and the first one was a mixup in the lab. It happens. If your concerned test one more time but the igg is accurate and you have not had any genital outbreaks as well
