in my vagina. I had some small lesions which seemed to be whitish but I thought it was a bad yeast infection. I went to the OBGYN and she told me my culture came back positive for HSV-1, but my blood test was negative because it was to soon to be in my blood. She gave me Valtrex which I took for a month and then stopped, I never had anything else since then.
I went to the OBGYN last week for the first time since and she said my blood test would definitely test positive since it's been over 2 years. I just called for my results and they said everything came back Negative. When I questioned why the doctor said my immune system is probably strong and I have HSV-1 because the culture two years ago was positive. Is this possible, or is it possible I got a false Positive Culture? Is it possible to have a Positive culture but for it to never enter in your blood? I'm really confused....
Hi confused... i had a simliar experience, and through my research i learned that it is very possible to have a false positive culture. the problem with some doctors is that they dont really understand herpes or dont know enough about it.. If blood results came up neg then u dont have it. your body creaest antibodies against herpes once your exposed to it & it make take up to 2 weeks b4 it shows up in ur blood stream. the test basically looks for the antibodies in ur blood, so no antibodies then no virus....
