Positive HSV2 transmission

My girlfriend has HSV2, we had sex for the first time last night with a condom.  I penetrated her a couple times for a total of 10 minutes or so.  She is not taking suppressive therapy and has not had an outbreak in a while.  She has had HSV for over 10 years and has very few outbreaks.  I know I am at a risk, but is it likely that I contracted the HSV.  Also, how long does it take symptoms to show up?  Thank you for any help anyone can give.

First off, relax! Odds are, based on your scenario, that you are 99% likely to NOT get genital herpes. You should get tested too, as 90% of folks who have genital herpes don't even know it. An IgG type specific blood test is what you'd want to ask for.

Here are odds based on female to male transmission of genital herpes.

FEMALE TO MALE RATE OF TRANSMISSION (HSV2 ONLY STATS IS NOT APPLICABLE FOR HSV1)

If you have 100 couples where the female has HSV2 but not the male (these figures are over a year) the odds of female to male transmission are, if you do nothing other than avoid sex during an outbreak, 4 men out of a 100 will get herpes in a year, or 4%. If you do go on a suppressive therapy then it drops to 2 men out of a 100 in a year, or 2%. And if you use suppressive and a condom the chances are 1 man out of a 100 will get herpes in one year or 1%.

The Valtrex and transmission study stats are based on having sex 2 times/week.

Thank you for your quick response, I tend to over analyze things and worry. I will get tested, how long should I wait to get tested?  Thanks again for the stats, she told me she has never transmitted it to any of her previous partners, but I will
still get tested.
