Positive blood test for Hsv2, but is it oral or genital?

I tested positive for HSV-2 two months ago. However, I never had an outbreak, and doctor at planned parenthood told me the positive blood test only proved i had Hsv2, but not where the infection is. (I had protected vaginal sex but gave unprotected oral sex with the partner with Hsv2.)

I got a prescription for daily suppressants, but I held stopped taking  them, since I thought that if I wait the for the outbreak, I would know where the Hsv2 really is. The outbreak happened, only on the genitals.

My question: does this "prove" my herpes is only genital? Would be safe for me perform oral sex without me worrying about infecting my partner?

What was the test you had and the actual result? Eliminate the possibility of a false positive first.

98% or more of HSV2 infections are genital, so its a safe bet.
