Positive results - but how??!!

Positive results - but how??!!

Ok, I'm a 28 year-old male and just got my lab results back. I had my doctor order a battery of STD tests because I just got involved in a new relationship and wanted to be clear begin anything went down.

All my results were never, except my herpes. My doctor ordered an HSV  1+2 IGG test, and it came back positive.

It reads 8.24 H, and under comments, "very lipemic sample".

Now, I know that this particular test doesn't differentiate between types 1 and 2, but I have only been with one person in the last year, and that relationship ended 2 months ago. I have never experienced any symptoms even remotely close to what generally is associated with herpes. I'm so confused by these results.

Please let me know if anyone out there can add any information or shed some light on this problem. What percentage of people actually have herpes 1? I read, something like 50%. So, if I tested positive for that, with this particular test, there's no way of knowing if I have genital herpes.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

if going to take a guess at this ok. If your numbers are that high it sounds like you have had it for awhile. What did u come back postive for type 1 or 2 or both?Mabye your had a 4.00 something for type 1 & 4.00 something for your type 2 as well. Can u post your results here so we can see a clear explanation cause 8.24 seams a lil high.

I'm not sure if the 8.24 H is the combined total.

I just wanted to clarify my post from above. All of my other tests were negative, but the herpes was positive.

The results read:

Comments: Very lipemic sample

HSV 1+2 IGG - 8.24 H  (.9-1.1)

Interpretations:  (>1.1) = Positive
.9-.99 = Equivocal
< .9 = Low

I have no idea how this is possible, but I've read over the forum and there seems to be a lot of mistakes in the diagnoses  sometimes.

Please let me know if you have help me with this.

You need to have a type specific test done.  All this tells you is that you have type 1, type 2 or both.  You could easily have type 1 orally, as do most people, and not know it, so you need more testing done.
