, I did my research and saw that many of these low positives are actually negative and it should have been checked. As a result, I requested another test with the inhibition from Quest #17170 from my gyno. They did not seem to have any clue about the test, but ordered it for me anyhow. I got the call today and the test was a 0.77 negative so it didn't even have to be reflexed to inhibition for verification. I am confused although happy to hear negative. At first they claimed it was a new infection and now they are claiming it's an old one and advised me to retest again in 1-2 months. This is crazy!
So should I get the western Blot then for confirmation in a month or two? The nurse doesn't seem to be familiar with it at all, but seemed willing to get it for me if they can. Also I have always been negative for type 1 and have never had any symptoms and either have my most recent partners although they have yet to test.
1.13 is a very low positive. A subsequent negative Inhibition makes it very likely to have been a false positive. If you haven't had any recent exposures, I would chalk it up as a negative and move on. If you need the peace of mind, confirm with a Biokit or Western Blot.
it's easiest if you just keep adding to your original post instead of making multiple new ones. let's keep any further questions in your other post you have going - thanks!
sorry i didn't know if i should add it to the other since another test has been run. the nurse said my result was a 0.77 negative so i'm guessing the test was run was negative and the inhibition test wasn't run as a result. what do results from an inhibition test look like?
