Possibilities

Do oral and genital herpes occur at the same time sometimes? Meaning if ive had oral herpes since i was a child, and what i suspect is my first outbreak of genital herpes, why are they occuring at the same time?

If i really am having genital herpes, is it possible that the first symptoms are occuring 11/12 weeks after exposure. Symptoms are discharge, itching, red blister.

Only time will tell how your ob's will be.  Wish I could be more specific than that for you but there's no way to tell at this point what the future will bring.

Thanks, yeah its 250mg 2 tables, twice a day for 7 days.

I don't know why she didn't do it..or why she wants to wait.

I am reading the handbook but it can't really help with knowing how my obs are going to feel, i mean it says its different for everyone. This one doesn't hurt right now, so does that mean they are all going to be like this or that its going to get worse.

Also is it true that with time, the obs usually slow down?

It's just famvir. It's one of the 3 herpes antivirals that are routinely used to treat herpes with. It should be 250mg 3x/day for 7 days. Is that the dose they gave you?

You can use the topical zovirax either orally or genitally but it really doesn't work for genital herpes so I wouldn't even bother using it there.  apply it every 2-3 hours while awake to the cold sore. the famvir will help with cold sore healing too.

It's unfortunate that they didn't do a lesion culture for you. at this point I guess get your hsv2 igg blood test in another month and go from there.

Meanwhile be sure to read the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com. it's a terrific resource to learn more about herpes. also there is a nice patient counseling video there too to watch.

So i just came back from the doctor and she basically told me i have herpes without even doing a blood test. I asked her why she didn't do one and she said shes going to wait until i finish the tablets she gave me...i still dont understand why she didn't just do the blood test..

Also i was given sandoz-famciclovir for 7 days..has anyone heard of that?

I was also given zovirax 5% a cream..now im wondering if thats to apply to my cold sore...or do genital herpes..because im guessing its just for the cold sore right?

Sometimes a new genital herpes infection can trigger an oral herpes recurrence too. It's different for everyone.

Since you have a history of hsv1 orally, it makes the initial ob of herpes "milder" and more likely to go unnoticed so yes it's not unusual to not have a noticeable ob until later into infection with the virus.

Have you seen your provider yet? time is of the essence and the sooner you are seen the better.
