Possibility of Herpes?

Possibility of Herpes?

I was very stupid one night after getting drunk and visited a sex worker.

So drunk that I couldn't ejaculate and eventuated to unprotected sex. Noting, this is seriously my FIRST and ONLY sex worker. She also knew about it and that's why she was ok when I asked. (Now I am WORRIED)

This happened on Mar 28th and on the 3rd day, I had a bad sore throat with white dots on my throat.
On the Fourth day, I felt pain while urinating and it's just got worse.

I have been highly fatigued and depressed since. And I have had HIV, chlamydia tests done twice, and both were negatives. I also started Doxy-100 on April 6th and I've been 4 days on the pills. And no sign of the pain easing while urinating. There are very small red dots on my penis where the doc says it's looks like irritation, not herpes. On the April 7th, I did a blood test for herpes. It was negative for both strains. Because of my anxiety, I've been seeing the same doctor 4 days in a row and today he gave me a very strong pill: Zithromax. But pain hasn't eased.
Initially, I thought it was highly likely to be chlamydia, but now I'm very worried that it may be Herpes.

Question 1)
What's the percentage of false negatives for a herpes testing?

Question 2)
Does this sound like Herpes to you? Or something else??? Is it possible that the herpes grow inside the urinary track and not on the outside?? If so, can the blood test show it?

The doctor today got another swab of my penis to be tested. This is the second time. Becaause of this easter weekend, I won't be getting the results till Tuesday. It's going to be mind blowing!!

What's your advice of what I should do now?

A very small percentage of urethritis (the pain in the penis while urinating, often accompanied by discharge) - 3% to be exact, is due to HSV 1 infection.  I can't say if this is true for you.  The lower back pain, infection in the throat and muscle tiredness may or may not have anything to do with any of this very difficult to say, but at least the low back pain, unlikely.  We would want to be certain, however, that the low back pain isn't due to any kidney involvement, since you have pain with urination.  I'm sure your doctor is covering all those bases nicely.  Taking a herpes antibody test very soon after an encounter can give you information about your herpes status prior to this particular encounter, but has been done too soon to give you information about this particular encounter.  So for accuracy, it needs to be repeated 12-16 weeks from when you had sex with her.  Yes, herpes can be in the urethra, and unseen, but it most often also present with  symptoms on the outside of the skin.

The azithromycin and doxycycline should take care of any bacterial infections in the urethra, though it is not the completely appropriate medicine to treat gonorrhea.  Were you tested for that as well, do you know?  Have you had a discharge?  Has anyone looked it under a microscope, if you have?

It sounds like your doctor is on top of this and your are being well taken care of, even though you are afraid and confused.  Hang in there with your doctor and wait for those test results, even though I know its so hard to wait.

Thank you so much for your response... Thanks...

Actually, my doc has actually tested for kidney stones also. And it has been negative...

The best thing for myself is that the pain from urinating has slowly eased a bit. But I can now see an ulcer on the top of my penis. Somehow, I feel as thought the same area where the pain "was" has not surfaced as an ulcer with NO PAIN. Is that normal???

There is no pain at all when I touch the ulcer. Also, the ulcer itself is not very identifiable unless I look very very closely.

As for why my doctor tested for Herpes, he advised that if I am showing symptoms of herpes, it shall test as positive...

Because the pain has just eased within the last 12 hours, I feel a little more comfortable.

Can I ask, does Herpes show up directly as an ulcer without pain? or does it normally show up as a blister with pain before bursting??

Once again, THANKS!!! I am so grateful to have seen your reply....

Ulcer?  So there is an actual hole in the skin in your penis?
What kind of testing was done for herpes, blood test, swab test?
Often herpes presents with pain or tenderness, though not every time.

Not an actual hole. But a white spot which looks very much like an ulcer.

I've done blood test with negative results.
Swab samples has been taken but results won't be available until Wednesday.

Do you think this sounds like herpes or maybe something else?

After 3 swabs of my penis. The doctors FINALLY noticed some candida and FINALLY thinks it's male yeast infection.

Upon searching the internet, I found many photos of male yeast infection which looks exactly the same like my penis. I am AMAZED why it took them so long to diagnose me with the correct diagnosis...

Anyways... I'm now worried whether or not I have HIV. Very anxious but I can't do anything about it until 9 more weeks when I can have a conclusive HIV test....

Thanks for your help Terri...
