HI there, I have been worried for days now. I have had cold sores ever since I can remember (I generally will get them in the corner of my mouth, not on my lips
) . I haven't had one in a very long time. However, I felt one might have been coming on earlier this week. I bought abreva and used it. THe second day I was kissing my boyfriend, and briefly gave him oral sex
. As soon as i remembered that I might be getting a cold sore I immediately stopped. This only happened for about 15 seconds. He was kissing me and he has not gotten a cold sore. What are the chances that he will get HSV 1 on his genitals if he hasn't gotten it on his mouth from me? (since from what I have been reading it MAY transfer but where the cold sores generally appear are up and around the mouth area)
This all happened on Tuesday (the bump was sort of raised, but not looking like a usual cold sore with all the little bubbles, it was just one single one) I felt like I was sort of getting a cold sore on Monday (just the little hard bump). On friday he told me that he was feeling really "antsy" and today (sunday) he told me he's got a headache. Also he's been itchy down there, and other parts of his body. I hope I'm overreacting but I'm just really nervous something may have transmitted to him. I'm just curious as to the likelihood of him getting a cold sore down there if he hasn't already gotten one on his mouth first. (i asked him if he's had a cold sore before and he said no, I know thats no indication as to whether or not he's been exposed to the virus or not)
as any skin to skin contact with an active sore whether it is open or closed is a risk ..... Just keep an eye on things over the next few days and if anything develops he should go to a STD/GUM Clinic and have any lesion that may show up cultured if nothing appears it would still be a good idea for him to be tested to err on the side of caution since this was a bit of a risky situation for him.If you were kissing also it is possible it may have been transmitted Orally to him ....
So either way testing would be best
