Possible Herpes Exposure? Please Help!

I am male! So I had sex with a sex worker about 9 weeks ago. I had protected oral (she performed on me with a condom) and protected vaginal for less than 2 minutes. I had frequent urination right after. A couple of days later as I got very worried and anxious, I developed a white tongue (not thrush), back pain, neck pain, armpit pain, butt pain. I had every symptom i read about on the internet. I also had groin pain and maybe a little itching in legs, groin, and probably all over the body ( I don't know if this was from reading stuff online) maybe I developed the symptoms. I jumped from one disease to another, thinking I had everything. First It was scabies, then went to derm he said it was nothing. Then went to md for swollen lymph nodes, and white tongue. He said he didn't notice anything, get tested and get negative results, you are just being paranoid. I had every hiv symptom supposedly but I tested at 8.5 weeks and tested negative for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and hiv. I am not sure if it was a discharge or painful nocturnal emission, but I had it a couple of times. I use to get nocturnal emissions before but no pain. I haven't had any painful blisters or lesions at all. I was feeling totally fine after I got my negative results. Then last week I had leg pain. So i started looking up symptoms for herpes. I then also had itching in my legs groin. Don't know if it's from thinking about it or really had it. I had some sort of a skin outgrowth in my inner thighs a couple of times. I mean its not pimples, whiteheads, ingrown hair or anything. Doesn't hurt and went away in two days. I am not even sure it might have been there before probably just noticing due to close observation. I spoke to my clinician over the phone yesterday, she said if it was herpes, it wouldn't clear up in two-three days. It takes 10-14 days to clear up and its very painful. My genital area is totally normal, maybe a little pain after the nocturnal emission. Please help!!!!!

Nothing at all that you have described here sounds like herpes. I know that people read things are the internet about the non-specific symptoms of herpes, and that is scary, but first and foremost, almost all people with herpes, at some point, have sores in the genital area.

Let's look at your particular situation.  You received and had protected sex both locations.  Though condoms are not perfect, they definitely reduce the transmission of herpes.  And your intercourse experience was exceedingly brief.  though that isn't perfect protection either, clearly you have more opportunity to become infected with herpes if the intercourse is longer.

I think you have very very low risk here, given the kind of exposure that you had and the duration.

Hi thanks a lot for the response it's greatly appreciated.  So what can cause the painful ejaculation or nocturnal emission.  I had it day before, now have a mild pain the groin and back.  Also, I thought I had itching but I don't know if it was just a mental thing.  Like for example, I tested negative at 8.5 weeks, and it is a vey low risk according to you and my clinician.  I still keep thinking about it. Should I consider that conclusive ? I really think I m driving myself crazy reading stuff online but then again I don't know.  Do I really need to go for any testing for herpes since I have no blisters or sores? I feel like I have convinced myself I have it.  I really don't feel happy about anything anymore just have been thinking about this all day.  Please advise.

If you test negative at 8.5 weeks after exposure, the chances you will stay that way (negative ) are well above 70%.  These other symptoms you are having are unlikely to be related to herpes, but as convinced as you are, it may be difficult for you to get past this.

Hi Terri,

Thanks for the response! I haven't tested for herpes yet but that was the HIV test I was talking about and my doctor told me I didn't need to worry about that because my exposure was protected.  Only test if I couldn't move on for HIV.  You are right I don't seem to have the symtoms (symptoms) for herpes, but it's just that too much googling for symtoms (symptoms) has driven me a little crazy.  I really need to stop but can't get myself to get off the internet.

I do have minor symtoms (symptoms) still tho.  Minor groin pain which i think started after the painful ejaculation, Calf pain, back pain, minor discomfort in right abdomen, changing stools not really watery but sometimes loose.  Can this be symtoms (symptoms) of just a uti or a kidney infection? Or are these just anxiety symtoms (symptoms)? I got a mosquito bite like bump on my arm.

Maybe I am observing my body too carefully?

Are you observing your body too closely?  What do you think?  YES!!

Close your computer and go outside.  Go for a walk, do anything else.  But get off the computer, including this board.  Anyone can find anything here, suggesting a multitude of illnesses.

If you can't stop worrying, you can get tested for herpes and/or HIV when enough time has passed for accuracy, but I really truly think it is in your best interest to shut down the internet now.

Hi Terri,

Thanks! I have definitely reduced searching the symptoms. But still I just have few minor symptoms, could be a UTI or a kidney infection. I mean these are my symptoms, please see if you can suggest what it is: I know you can't diagnose online but still.

-Back Pain (Minor - Continous)
-Abdomen Pain (Right Side), i feel it when I am usually sitting down
-Very slight groin pain if i touch the area, doesn't bother much (only hurts more after nocturnal emission)
-Change in Stools
-Pain in Calves maybe sometimes
-Usually feel cold
-I feel fine most of the times but feel sick at various times of the day

I told you earlier that I did test negative for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and HIV at 8.5 weeks. So could this be just a bacterial infection?

UTI symptoms would include pain with urination, and usually extreme, and it rarely happens in men.  If you have concerns about having a kidney infection, I think you should go in to see a health care provider right away.

This will be my last post on this thread.
