Possible exposure, but the symptoms don't line up

I recently was kissing and received oral sex from a female, later discovering that she had the last reminants of a healing HSV-1 cold sore on her lip. Naturally (I think) I'm freaking out over the possibility of exposure, especially on my genitals.

This all happened 4 days ago, and I have what I initially believed to be a cold sore forming in the very corner of my mouth. I noticed it forming (though it seemed more an irritated pore or hair follicle) 2 days ago, and immediately treated it with alcohol, hoping to sterilize anything that might have been on my skin. The spot never blistered, isn't painful unless I'm poking at it or re-sterilizing it, and isn't forming a "cluster" of blisters or anything like that. It's just a lone spot with red irritated skin around it (likely from me picking at it and treating it). I've also noticed a tingling sensation in my penis for the last 2 days, but there are no physical signs that anything is wrong (no spots, sores, inflammation, or discharge).

My questions are as follows:

1) Is it possible that I managed to avoid picking up the virus because her sore (she was born with the virus apparently) was mostly healed to the point that I didn't notice it under the lipstick?

2) My symptoms don't seem to line up with what HSV seems to do for initial exposure, is there some other thing that could explain this small, irritated bump? One friend suggested that my overuse of chapstick in the last week, as well as sleeping/drooling on that side might have triggered an independent infection.

3) Could the genital tingling be psychosomatic because of how worked up I am? The lack of other symptoms and that the tingling is lasting longer than what I've read to be the "warning period" for HSV 1 makes me wonder if I'm just stressing and imagining sensations.

The thing on your lip sounds like cheilosis, not herpes.  Google it and see if it fits.

1 - Yes, even with an active sore, transmission is not a certainty.

2 - Yes, cheilosis or an allergic reaction, chapped lips, drooling, etc.

3 - Tingling can certainly be psychosomatic.
