Possible herpes?

by MiManny, Oct 30, 2009 02:02PM
Hello,

I am wondering if I possible have Herpes.

Long story short, i received unprotected oral about 3.5 months ago from someone who I'm not sure of their status.

About 5 weeks ago, I came down with ulcers down each side of my groin. Went to 3 docs who said it was fungal ... fucidin cream was given to me and pretty much cleared it up in a week.  For the past 4 weeks I have been having what I think are herpes symptoms ... my whole lower half generally feels like I have electricity running through it. It's not very localized ....

I then developed an infection right around my glands at my waste line -- this was also "not herpes" by 2 docs. it has not healed after 2.5-ish weeks of fucidin cream. So i went back to the docs and they gave me keflex for it -- 3.5 days worth of keflex and it seems to be getting better.

I have been looking at my self very closely for the last 5 weeks as you can imagine, seeing little thing I have never noticed.  Finally, to ease my mind yesterday I went to an actual STD clinic -- apparently she sees herpes once a day so should be well versed. She as well said, not herpes. Likely staph infection which can be difficult to cure.

I felt so much better.

This AM, as usual I inspected everything very closely and didn't see anything new.    Well now, some 7 hours later I went to the washroom and noticed a very dark red/purple spot on the side of my penis. About the size of the small ball in the end of a bic pen.  It is very dark in colour, and doesn't have any light edges or anything -- the colour is uniform.  It does not hurt, and is not raised. No tingling that I notice or anything ... no real burning.

Do you think this could be the start of a herpes lesion? When the initial stuff came up, it was not on the shaft of my penis at all -- it actually wasn't directly on my genitals at all.

Please help ... i am freaking right out and would appreciate someones educated opinion.

I wouldn't say this sounds like herpes. However, Herpes is a nasty virus that manifests itself in many different ways in different people. Since you had unprotected oral sex, then Herpes is a (small) possibility. I would return to the doctor to have them look at any abnormalities in your genital area and also request a herpes test.

You've had your symptoms looked at by several providers now and none of them think it looks like herpes. it would be very unusual for a hsv1 genital infection to show up like this and continue to progress as sporadically as your symptoms have.

I would like to add -- upon further inspection, the dot is about an 1/8" across at most ... think if you were to lightly touch the tip of a sharpie to paper.

Colour has not really changed, and is still pretty miuch uniform all the way across -- as uniform as skin can be I guess.

Lastly, where my initial rash was down the crease of my leg, I feel "hot spots" some times -- just for a second here and there. But definitely draws my attention to it ...

As well, during my initial symptoms, I was having hot flashes and was very fatgiued and depressed.  Could be due to the fact I was sure I had herpes.  Can anyone speculate further on the spot at least? The whole situation would be great now that I added the few missing pieces.   Oh, and very lastly I have been having pains above my penis, I guess where my prostate is ... would herpes mimic prostate pain? I am familiar with this as I have had prostititis in the past -- as well as a few bouts of epididimitys which I am as well experiencing. TYhis seems to worsen and get better throughout the day too.

Sorry to piece this together like this ... just been thinking about it more.

I know I should, and am trying to. Just that our city is notorious for poor medical so the idea keeps bouncing around my head.  Can anyone comment on the whole prostate type pain? Would I feel pain that deep if it was herpes related?
