Possible to get same herpes virus twice?

Hello Everyone

Around the end of January during this year, I had what appeared to be a series of bright red flat dots on my penis.  It almost looked as if someone took a red sharpie and dotted all over my penis.  Not surprisingly, seeing as herpes is one of the most common stds I went to my doctor and had a culture done of the lesions.  That culture came back negative for hsv.  Then about three months later I had a herpeselect blood test which came back as me being positive for hsv1 but negative for hsv 2.  Seeing that I've chronically suffered from cold sores, I knew that hsv 1 would show.  Is it possible that I may have been infected again with hsv 1 in the genitals? Or does that seem unlikely due to my established oral herpes?  This has been freaking me out for quite some time, im even afraid to get married because of the ptential of infecting someone.  All answers are welcomed.  Is there anyone here infected with one hsv virus both orally and genitally?

You aren't likely to contract hsv1 genitally after you've had it orally but it can happen. That said - the symptoms you describe don't sound like genital herpes.
