Possible wrong diagnosis???

Yesterday I got a call from my doctor saying that a culture she took came back positive for herpes type 1. I found this strange because I havent had sex with anyone but the guy I've been with for years and vice versa. Also, I have never had any cold sore of fever blisters around my mouth and niether has my boyfriend. In addition to that, I dont have any type of sores or lesions on my genitals. I think I was just irritated by a new soap because when I originally went to the doctor I was just complaining of being really sensitive to touch and urine "down there". I just thought it was the soap or maybe my partner got to rough during sex. Is it possible to have herpes or an outbreak without cold sores or fever blisters around the mouth, or sores or lesions in the genital area???

yes it is possible to just experience redness and discomfort with Herpes not everyone has identical symptoms,cultures are usually a very reliable source of testing and are seldom if ever wrong,just because neither of you have had a Cold Sore doesn't mean you don't have HSV1 many people have the virus but never show symtoms (symptoms) hence the reason Herpes is spread and Genital HSV1 is becoming just as common as Genital HSV2 due to Oral sex .....
Ask your b/f to get tested now too so that you are both aware of your sexual health status
