. My boyfriend and I both get cold sores; he gets them very occasionally which used to be the case for me, but I seem to be having a rather nasty outbreak at the moment.
I've read the statistics; I know it's unlikely for us to develop new infections since we have pre-existing ones. But I'm paranoid
about accidentally transmitting this to him orally and vice versa, especially since it's possible to do so before a cold sore even shows up. I obviously wouldn't perform oral sex
or let him perform it on me if there was a visible cold sore, or until they were completely cleared up, but is it too risky to have unprotected oral sex
I wouldn't worry at all since you both have antibodies that will offer you great protection against getting it genitally. Just don't perform oral sex when you have an outbreak, and you are fine.
