on the right side for the last 2 weeks, when it healed, it didn't feel right, so I looked at it in the mirror. I was shocked to see that the one large aphthous ulcer (canker
, but white like a normal canker sore, and surrounded by bright red, but the red only extends to the middle of my lip (my left side is fine). These tiny canker sores are very very tender, and sting when I eat food or move my mouth. My lips are noticeably swollen, but only on the right side. I went to the Dr., and she was more concerned with STD testing and routine bloodwork than anything else. She swabbed the ulcers, but it's four in the morning, I can't sleep and I am in tons of pain... I would love to hear an opinion sometime before I get my results back (waiting for a week is torture). I have also developed a migraine on my right side, and tenderness in my right eye and cheekbone. Could all of this be a cluster of Herpeteform Aphthous Ulcers brought on by the stress of being sick? Or is it something else? Something that involves the nerves of the right side of my face, like a Primary Herpes Outbreak?
ulcers in the mouth while sick are common. no real reason to suspect that they are std related at all.
most adults have hsv1 orally. it's very common. when you are otherwise ill, it can reactivate and cause you symptoms and also shed. You also have headaches so odds are the aches on the right side of your face are related to the illness and sinus pressure more than anything.
