Does anyone know if the length and severity of your intitial outbreak correlates to the frequency of recurrences? If there is a connection, than would taking an antiviral to treat the primary
The length and severity of the first ob doesn't consistantly correspond to anything long term in studies. Taking an antiviral during your ob helps to speed healing of that ob and nothing else.
Thanks Grace. Where did you find that information? The above article shows that if your intitial outbreak lasts longer than 35 days you will have twice as many recurrences. It doesn't say that taking an antiviral will reduce rate of recurrences but it stands to reason that if an antiviral reduces outbreak duration than it will in turn reduce your chance of having a lot of recurrences.
