When a person has an establised infection in one area they are basicly immune to contracting in another. And those that do have it in both contracted it at the same time not from touching the face then touching the genitals. Dosent happen that way.

Sorry to be overbearing, but I have the biggest fear of herpes. I know you guys aren't here to give advice or be a therapist, but I would really appreciate any advice. I've been seeing a therapist lately, but she recently moved and now I'm in the transition of seeing a new one. I do have hsv 1 orally and rarely get outbreaks. But the first time I ever got tested was about 3-4 years ago and I tested positive for hsv 1 with a value greater than 8.0. I then realized that the blisters I got underneath my nose were herpes. During one of my outbreaks I was picking at the blisters and then accidentally touched my genitals. I do not recall getting an outbreak after this, but now i am terrified that I have transferee my oral infection to myself genitally.

For the past couple of years I've been waking up every morning concerned that I could get a genital outbreak.

Should I be concerned that I passed my oral infection to myself genitally?

I have not been intimate with someone in years because this fear has taken over my life. I would really like to be able to be with someone again. I did get tested after my last partner and it was negative for hsv 2. My concern here is that fact that I could of potentially passed my hsv 1 oral infection to myself genitally.
