I'm talking about HSV1 here, but it could apply to both viruses. Now I know herpes is extremely contagious, but is it contagious if both parties already have the virus? Like my boyfriend and I both have HSV1, if we kiss and the next day I get a cold sore, is he at risk for getting one as well? Or is that because he already has the virus, his outbreaks are determined by his own body? Or if I use accidentally use a chap stick I once used on a past cold sore, will that cause me an outbreak? I guess I've always believed herpes outbreaks can be caused these ways, but some things I've read on here make me question that. That and now that I think about it, when ever you read about what causes an outbreak you never see "coming into contact with something that is contaminated". I hope this question made sense.
Soo my cold sore outbreaks won't trigger one in him? If we accidently kiss while I have one? I've never thought could be true! They seem so contagious it seems like even when you both have the virus kissing could trigger an outbreak. So this is not true?
