Question regarding genital herpes

Hi,
I have been dating a girlfriend for 3 years and have not been with any other women during this time.  At 3 years I have had blisters show up.  Had them checked by a doctor and am possitive with genital herpes.  My question is could I have gotten this from a girl before my girl friend,  since i've read that you may have herpies (herpes) and never show symtems.  Or did I contact this from my girlfriend,  she denied having it.  And if so does this mean she may have been sexually with someone else during this time?

How were you diagnosed as having genital herpes? Do you have hsv1 or hsv2 genitally?  Has your gf had a type specific herpes igg blood test yet?

I initially had some blisters and had it check buy my doctor.  At that time he diagnosed me with it.  Since then I do get blisters from time to time.  I have never had any blood work done.  I don't know what hsv1 or hsv2 is or the other test you mention for that matter.

You need to get a type specific herpes igg blood test done and so does your partner. Until you both know who has what, you know nothing and can't make educated decisions about precautions.
