Quite concerned

Two months ago I had a sexual encounter with a girl I met over the internet. I only recieved oral sex from her, she had no symptoms visibly of having Herpes or such, she said she was absolutly clean and I unfortunatly eventually decided not to use the condom she insisted I didn't use. Now I haven't had any sexual encounters with anyone prior to that night for 2 years. About a week later I noticed the raised rim around the head of my penis turned purple, and a red dot appeared. A few more dots appeared soon after, my testicals became swollen for about two weeks after that which was a bit painful, but not enough that I took time off work. The dots seemed to be clearing but the purple mark still remained. The dots never really went away, and now a month later the dots have returned a bit more than it was, being uncircumsized it's become difficult to retract the foreskin. The skin on the head of my penis seems to be peeling quite a bit, in the shower I rubbed some of that loose sking off and it was almost raw looking under it. It's an irritating pain now and then, I don't know if it's Herpes i've contracted or possibly Balanitis since I was not sexually active for so long and the skin wasn't use to friction. I'm quite scared but I don't have a choice in going to the doctor now. I know that the herpes outbreaks don't usually last that long, well I hope lol. I don't know what to do, I feel like nothing will make me feel better, I have someone very close to me that has just come back in to my life and I'm so scared they will not want anything to do with me if I find out I have an STD. Does anyone have an idea from what I've described what it might be? What I should do? I try to get my mind off of thinking so badly about it, but rarely having sex I feel I'll never be able to have it again.

I just came back from the doctor, and it's a fungal infection. Not herpes. What a weight off my mind. I've been making it worse by washing it with soap all this time but now I have topical anti-fungal cream which should take care of the problem now. Thank you for your input again, now hopefully the steroids in the cream don't adversely affect the size of my testicles lol!

Whatever your comfortable with but I think maybe the for your own peace of mind you should get tested ... not because I think this is Herpes I don't but rather so that you can move on from it, often once something like Herpes manifests itself in our heads it's very difficult to move it and from there on every little bump or pimple that might might appear has our heads buzzing again .....
Overwashing the area won't change anything whether it be Herpes or something else but try to use unperfumed soap on sensitive areas .....
Try to relax and not pay too much attention to the area for a few days you could be irritating the situation yourself.

Thank you for your input Daisy. I forgot to mention when I got home from that encounter I washed myself down there with some hand soap which I know we had out for a long time and hadn't replaced yet. I've also had an outbreak of pimples around my pubic area as well, which I'm thinking could be from the amount of washing I've been doing down there. Should I head to the doctors first and foremost, or head to the STD clinic and get myself tested first?

Sounds like some kind of mild skin infection or indeed it could be Balinitis it's certainly not typical Herpes behaviour, however in view of the fact that someone has come back into your life it would be wise to be tested just to err on the side of caution.....
