Rash and Herpes?

Two weeks ago I had a protected encounter, I now seem to have a lightly colored rash on the head of my penis. I have had no other sysmtems that are associated with Herpes. No fever, no blisters (yet) or anything. Questions:

1. How soon after an encounter will a rash show up that is herpes?
2. Will a rash show up even if there are no other symptoms?
3. What are the odds of getting herpes during a one time protected encounter?
4. Will blisters always follow a rash and how long after the rash will they come?

If you had a protected encounter, chances are it is NOT herpes! The itching would be at the exact spot where the rash is.

I have another question. What does the pain and itchy feeling actually feel like. I have an itchiness that might last for 3-4 secs at a time once or twice a day. Is the itchiness and pain 'apparent'; that is will you know what it is when it comes?

Thanks alot for all your help.
