Rash between groin

Rash between groin

Hi, I have had a red rash between my thighs and scrotum that has lasted around 8 weeks now.  It is located in the crease of the groin, between my high thigh and scrotum on both sides.  It began shortly after I began taking amoxicillin for a sinus infection.  It began as a (somewhat warm) prinkling sensation between my groin and scrotum.  My doctor said it was heat rash probably triggered by the antibotics and prescribed clotrimazole and betamethasone cream.  This seemed to help, however shortly after using it, my scrotum began very red, I believe due to the use of the steriod cream.  Although the rash had not cleared up entirely.  Then I saw my doctor again and he had another look at my rash / scrotum and prescribed ketoconazole 2% and said this will prevent the redness of the scrotum.  Since then, the redness of my scrotum has improved significantly (almost back to normal).  The rash between the folds of my groin and scrotum have also improved, however it is still present.  It is slightly red, perhaps a pinkish, and mildly irritated, almost feels as if the area is chafed.  I was wondering if it is possible that a secondary infection (perhaps bacterial) occurred subsequent to the heat rash??  Is herpes a possibility given these symptoms and their location, and the length of its duration?  I have had no other symptoms (blisters, painful urination, etc) and the rash has not spread.  I am very concerned that it has been present for such a long period of time (approx. 8 weeks) and not cleared up (although it has improved, at a sluggish pace).  Also, both times my doctor examined it, he dismissed the possibility of anything more serious (like an std).  What could this be?  On a final note, I am a very hygienic person.  Please help.  Thanks so much in advance.

Sounds like a yeast infection, as your doctor diagnosed. Sometimes it can be a bugger to get rid of. Herpes symptoms don't stick around for 8 weeks, if that's why you're posting here. Follow-up with your doctor about treatment, as there are different topicals (and an oral medication) for yeast.
