Rash on Penis Glans(glands)

I recieved unprotected oral on may 29th, I have a rash that comes and goes, its below the skin of my penis glans (glands), whiteish/yellowish in colour its not raised, doesnt itch etc... just comes and goes, the funny thing is though when i notice it I look at it under the light and can only see it at certain angles.
Ive also had herpes symptoms, pins and needles in thighs, crawling sensation on my scrotum ( My scrotum wasnt involved when i recieved oral ), burning sensation in my left foot comes and goes, leg aches, shooting pains in legs, I havent had any blisters or lesions just the rash.
Had a IGG at 5 weeks came back NEG for both HSV1 AND HSV2.
HSV1 - 0.862
HSV2 - 0.580
To me it all adds up that ive got HSV1 genitally, please let me know what you think?

Your IgG shows negative for both HSV1 and HSV2. Have you been seen to have the rash examined/swabbed? Being seen when you are symptomatic is the best way to diagnose herpes, if it is in fact that. Something that "comes and goes" as you've described doesn't sound herpetic though.

I  dont see how it can be swabbed though, its below my skin? No I havent had the rash looked at, I think ive got herpes but the rash hasnt turned into blisters.

Herpes lesions are just that: sores that start as red bumps, then blisters, then ulcerations, then healing sores that scab over. Anything under the skin that never heals over/scabs is most likely not herpes related. Be seen when you have symptoms, then you can get a proper exam/diagnosis. "Thinking" you have herpes does you no good ultimately. You can also get an IgG type specific blood test 3 months post encounter for peace of mind. But still, being seen for what's going on makes sense, since it most likely isn't herpes.

well you wouldn't have given it to your mother if it was a canker sore - canker sores aren't contagious.  

as I said in your other post, even the best hsv1 blood tests still miss 1 out of every 10 hsv1 infections.  

changes in pigmentation aren't due to herpes. usually they are fungal infections though there are some dermatological conditions that can cause it too.

herpes shows differently on different people but for the vast majority of folks it's going to present pretty much the same. pigmentation changes are not a herpes symptom at all.  you aren't going to have rashes below the skin that you can only see at certain angles be due to herpes either.    

the vast majority of people who post on this forum end up not having herpes.   Be careful buying into someone else's story who is convinced that because it happened soon after sex it has to be herpes.  herpes is not the only germ out there by no means!

no fungal infections don't always have an annoying itch. plenty of different types of fungus out there.

a dermatologist at this point for continued follow up is a much better idea than repeating your herpes blood tests multiple times.  when it comes to hsv1, the only accurate way to test for it genitally is with lesion cultures of fresh symptoms anyways. A + hsv1 igg on a blood test tells you absolutely nothing about what is going on in your genital area, unless you had a + hsv culture of your genitals and then follow up months later it's only hsv1+.  make sense?

Nope before I went for a blood test I asked my mum if I ever had a cold sore, she said yes when you was little, then the test came back NEG.
And Grace surely if ths was my first exposure ever to the HSV virus, id have more than a rash and a few other symptoms? Shouldnt I have swollen lymph nodes, blisters etc...?
Well no if I had a blood test after 5 weeks and it was NEG then I have another at 3 months at its POS its obvious its HSV1 genitally.
This is my first ever sexually encounter and I havent been and arnt going to go near anyone else until I know what it is.

typically you get a very obvious and 'classic" ob when it's hsv1 genitally.

no your reasoning is quite wrong. you have no way to know if a + hsv1 test 3 months into things is genital or not. you don't know if it was your previous oral herpes infection your mom reports reflecting on that test or if it was an oral herpes infection you contracted from kissing the partner you got oral sex from.  the blood test only tells what you have, not where you have it and since hsv1 still prefers the oral area, lesion cultures of genital symptoms is the only way to diagnose it genitally.

Even the best blood tests miss 1 out of every 10 HSV1 infections. Your mom stated you had cold sores as a child, so you know the blood test just missed it is all.

Grace is correct, only a swab culture of symptoms can confirm a genital HSV1 infection. I know this from personal experience - I had a whopping, painful, obvious genital outbreak of blisters/ulcerations/sores and was diagnosed as having genital HSV1 by a swab/culture. And between a one-time encounter (incredibly low odds), and the fact that you know you have oral HSV1, the chances are virtually nil that you contracted genital HSV1. You'll hear this reiterated by Dr. Handsfield, Dr. Hook and Terri Warren in the expert's forum many a time.

The 1 in 10 statistic could be even for someone like me who's had it for 2 years - or in someone who's had it 20 years.

Oral HSV2 is very uncommon, and accounts for 3% of all oral herpes infections.

I have neither the interest or desire to convince or argue with you about it. You can be tested again at the 3 month mark of course. But you say you have symptoms, so logically it makes sense to be seen, especially because you could (and most likely do) have another condition that is not herpes.

I'm sure you could post on the experts' forum, and find out very swiftly that the chance you have genital herpes from this encounter is virtually nil. Here's a recent post, one of many on the same topic

The chances are 1 in 10 as you state, if I get tested over and over it obviously lowers them. Im putting my symptoms down to anxiety and stress as its been on my mind every day since the 29th may, and for the rash I dont know will get it seen and have a full STD test and get another IGG at 3 months.
Please could you tell me the full STD test, which tests are in it? I know that Herpes isnt done in a standard test?

A canker sore is inside the mouth, on the gums. A cold sore would typically be on the lips/mouth, just to clarify. Very different conditions.

Even if you don't have oral herpes, once again, a one time encounter of oral sex is extremely low risk. Infection almost always results in classic herpes symptoms within 2-20 days, of which you didn't have.

Is this a regular partner? If so, she can also be tested to know her herpes status. Not sure if I mentioned if took me FIVE years of VERY frequent oral sex (2X week) with my partner before I became infected!

Getting around has nothing to do with having oral (or genital) herpes. That's the unfortunate stigma we try to undo here on the herpes forum.

And in fact remember that oral herpes (which is what this girl would have had to have if she transmitted it to you) isn't considered an STD.

Indeed, you didn't have classic symptoms; another reason why you almost certainly didn't get genital herpes from this encounter - the same as stated on the expert's forum.

Ive written down all my symptoms from which I can remember...
Ive had bad testicle ache.
The rash on my penis glans (glands), doesnt itch, doesnt hurt, isn't raised or scabbed it comes and goes, looks like discolouration.
My penis glan feels as if its bruised.
Shooting sensation and pins and needles in buttocks, hip bone and legs,
Shooting sensation in penis when bladder is full or nearly full. Feels like the muscle between my anus and scrotum is tensing.
Warm sensation in left foot.
I havent been in pain at all and havent had the classic symptoms...

don't get hung up on your herpes testing. we've also discussed before why you don't need all that testing. follow up monthly with your provider as needed if symptoms continue.

when you get obsessed with your genital area , you assume positions you usually wouldn't assume and use muscles in ways you usually don't.  Most of us aren't used to doing the advanced yoga positions we take up in order to see all of our nooks and crannies when we are checking out our genital area when we have itches and such :)   also when we have pain, we start "guarding" with our other mucles in anticipation of pain with certain activities and use muscles differently than we regularly do. that all too contributes to twinges. No different from when in the spring, you go out a few days in a row to do yard work, rake leaves, pull dead plants out, dig holes for new plants and then start to have some aches and pains from it. you start using other muscles to for activities and to guard against pain from the sore ones and before you know it, your whole body aches.   same basic concept.

Grace, what STD is this picture from?  I had those same white spots on my genital earlier today.  It was like not enough blood is gettting to the head to keep the nice red color.  I also had a ring of the white color around my head one day.  I have a picture of that if it would help you.

HSV doesn't require a "liquid" to be swabbed.  The virus lives on TOP of the skin.  Have them preform a normal culture.  If your doctor disagrees see an STD clinic as your best bet for a proper diagnoisis and culture.

Welp I think the time has come War.  We can't diagnois you bud.  You need to work with your dermatolgoist and be seen by him.  We can't see it we don't look at pictures and none of us are doctors.  You have been told by grace what she feels I have given you my advice.

We can talk ALL day about what this could be but without seeing a doctor and getting the answers from proper testing and going through this with them we can't be of any further help.  You have been helped best we can give you.  

The advice here won't change.  Be seen get a proper work up on this issue and then move along.  Really we are going back and forth like ping pong.  You need the doctors who are trained in this to give you their opinion of what is going on.  Could be sunburn too.  

However, given your expsoure I seriously doubt you have herpes.  I would recommend never do this again.  Stresses you out way to far.  I think you regret the encounter and you are looking into everything being a sign.  HSV has a pretty good track record of typical symptoms being blisters.  Not rash with polka dots.

War the thing is that it could be friction it could be anything that is my point to all of this.  Everyone here has and continues to tell you that this ISN'T herpes.  Its not even typical of herpes.  You can continue on the track of Herpes thinking but it is not doing you any good personally.  That is all from me on this subject.  Good luck!

I am circumcised so it cant be fungal or bacterial right? or balantis as this only occurs with people who have foreskin...so to me the leg tingling, shooting pains in buttocks the rash all adds up IMO

Not true.  Just because you don't have foreskin doesn't mean you can't get a fungal infection or a bacterial one.  Balantis is inflamation (inflammation) of the penis so you could have that.  You are worried about HSV and thus any normal sensation is being amplified.  If the shooting pains have lasted more then 10 days you know it is not herpes.  But work with your provider.  Herpes has on its inital outbreak more classical symptoms.  While atyical cases happen its the same with anything.  But again you are talking guilt vs risk here.  

War you need to relax and stop thinking about it.  Let me give you something to think about.  When I didn't worry about HSV (stopped visiting these forums for a while to even make sure of it) kept myself busy I didn't notice ANYTHING to be worried about.  

To this day I get red bumps I get pains under my legs from bumps under there and after visiting a dermatologist I have been told you are a fat guy and because of this you sweat more and the red bumps are just hair folicules or cysts or whatever.  None of them have ever had Herpes symptoms but I had the back pain, the leg pain, heck I even thought I had the penile discharge.  I was sooooo worried.  Today I have had my 12 week testing and guess what I spent money on 2, 9, 12, 23 week testing and guess what I am still negative bud.  12 weeks is the limit test and cut yourself off.  Stop coming to med help for HSV advice and take time to do other things.  If you can't do that then you need to keep working with your doctors to find a cause and then get to the point where HSV is excluded and that is with testing.  Once its excluded focus on the other things.

War:  I was curious on your post and had to dig so I could find (a good thing) sorry I have been away.  Life....

Eventually I was diagnoised with Fungal infection.  After awhile I still haven't beat it.  My scrotum is still red.  I have red bumps on my legs and I get blood blisters easily.  I think more of my bumps are either A) Bites or B) Cysts.  I haven't figured them out.  But testing proves I am negative.  The bumps last a while some clear up (little bitty ones that are more likely just focilutitis.  It happens that the dermatalogist has tried to help me best he can and we haven't found much out.  

I found that when I worry and think of herpes I start to "feel things" for example I have a red area that looks like a bump down by my leg.  My first thought was crap did I really get HSV?  I look at it more and since I wear briefs it is right in that area that the line of the underwear meets the skin.  Given my weight and how easily I sweat if outside and that I have woken up at nights with my underwear wet in that area.  Well guess what I still have it but I am sure its because my underwear rubs there.  My skin isn't perfect.  

Though the move I research something that has affected a family member I have found that a vein issue maybe the cause of so many of these bumps and cysts since it is herridtiary (may have mispelled that)  and a vein doctor took one look at me while working with my family member and said Yup you have it too.  While it is the lower legs that show it I am sure the weight and other items don't help.  

My point if you will is that when I watch TV or play on the computer I don't feel it.  When I walk around and think about "I wonder if it is there" I do.  

Guilt gets you.  Each and every time when you do something you know is wrong and you are a concious guy it will get at you.  For some people they see this as "shoot I shouldn't have done it now I am going to get an STD" and then they start to look online and then they see OH MY I have Herpes!  I got this because they had to have HSV and they had a sore or where shedding etc etc etc.  Then you come here and post up (as many of us do) and you see us say "Low risk".  Why?  Well there isn't a Zero risk (it happens its published we see it here on the forums etc).  What we tell people is to put it in context.  A single expsoure (as defined as a one night deal) gives you some pretty high odds that you didn't get the virus transmitted.  Think of all the variables here...  First the virus has to be active.  Let's look at some of the data for shedding rates.  For Oral HSV-1 According to Terri Warren's Herpes Handbook on her site HSV-1 sheds 18% of days evaluated for the study.  So you figure 18% of the days out of a year.  Okay what are your odds at that?  Another thing to look at is from Petal.  Petal has Genital HSV-1 which she got from her partner giving her oral sex.  She went 5 years without getting it.  And according to her she was sexually active orally (based on her story I wasn't there.)

Okay so what does this mean for your?  Take more into account when did you get the symptoms?  Well majority of Herpes Cases show up in 2-14 days.  However, can go up to 2-20 days.  Okay so you have a rash let's look at that now when did you get it?  Over 20 days after the encounter?  Okay that speaks loudly against HSV.  It reoccurs?  How often?  More then 1 time a month?  Again works against HSV.  You didn't have a classical outbreak AND you have been worried about HSV?  Again not something sounding like Herpes.  Your testing 5 weeks out put you negative?  Okay almost half the cases would have at least tested positive close to this point.  The biggest plus you don't even know the girl has HSV.  

Okay so think of all these things.  How does this work against your favor? Low again.  Not everything that goes on the body is Herpes.  Trust me.  We have other things.  Some will be explained some are not.  

So where do you go from here?  You work with doctors to find out what it is or is not.  HSV test in 12 weeks... Negative?  Okay time to move on.  To much adds up to your favor instead of against you.

Well water distorts the skin and makes things look different (its why your hand looks different in water).  

Fungal would be fungi growing but not at a level where we may see.  Hence why testing is a scraping typically and a look under a microscope.  

HSV isn't going to last that long anyway.  If it was HSV it should have cleared up by now.  I think you need to see your provider for a work up on the fungal infection see a dermatologist if you can.

Just went to the clinic got tested for HIV, SYPH, GON and CHLA im 9 days off the 3month mark grace does this matter, they wouldnt test for herpes because all they said was herpes is very painful and youd know if you have it, I tried explaining to him that people have different symptoms, he said herpes testing isnt in the standard screening...looks like im going to have to go and pay private again another £160 pounds wow...

When i got tested they told me that i had cold sores cause i tested positive for hsv1 at 3.53. it was by quest diagnostics herpesselect igg blood work. tested negative for hsv2 at 0.14. This blood test told me if i had genital or cold sores.
