Rash on Penis. Help

30 year old black male in the US

Have a rash and it’s freaking me out.  It’s been 3 months since I’ve had sex(unprotected) and haven't had any signs or symptoms of an STD. However I do masturbate a few times a day. Lately my the skin on my penis has been very dry.  When I put water or lotion on it clears up but later in the day it’s right back to being dry. Then yesterday right after masturbating my penis became inflamed and with a small rash(tiny bumps). I took some Benadryl before going to bed thinking I was having a reaction to something and the Benadryl the rash go away but some of the bumps are still visible. What could this be? And what can I take to clear this up. Thanks

do you use a good lube when you masturbate?  gotta be kind to the lil guy :)


odds are you've never been tested for herpes before. the rates of herpes infections in blacks is pretty high at your age. since herpes is on your mind, get tested with a type specific herpes igg blood test to see what your status is.  

does your rash sound like herpes? not at all.  follow up with your doctor to get a better idea if this is just dry skin or if you have a stubborn fungal infection or something going on.

Went to the Dermatologist last week. He said it was an allergic reaction and prescribed a mild steriod called Cutivate. That is not helping with the dryness at all. After reading up on Cutivate it seems to be for itchy skin and I never had an itch. It's only been 5 days so I will stick with the Cutivate a while longer and hope it helps.

You may want to call the Dr. office and let them know you have been using for 5 days and the meidcine isn't working.  They sometimes will call in a new perscription for you to use or make you come in and be seen.  But I usually say wait 7 days for medicine to work.
