Thanks again for answering these questions. I am writing because I'm a little bit panicked.
I had unprotected sex with a girl 3 weeks ago..and over the course of the next week about 3-4 times total. The last exposure was just a little over 2 weeks ago.
I am writing because yesterday I noticed a weird, rash-like looking irritation on my left groin. Ever since I heard that the girl was HSV-2 positive I have been going crazy looking at all these areas in the mirror etc.. The night before last was when I first noticed anything there. Originally, it just looked like a tiny, tiny little cut or irritation..but, it was something that I did notice when looking..The next day, it seemed more pronounced and had spread in a little line directly on the crease of my groin where the leg meets the torso a little closer to the buttocks. Aside from one, maybe two small little lacerations or abrasions..it looks like the area is mostly just pink and a little tender. I know that this isn't the most typical form of primary breakout as it is not on the penis..and for the most part is pretty mild..I am just really concerned because for the past day and a half I have also had a headache which is uncommon for me..and I am also feeling some discomfort / achiness in my back which has me really worried.
Over the course of this week, I have been working out at the gym, and played on two sports teams..so typically, I would just write this off as jock itch or something..but it seems all too coincidental that this is happening in this time frame after exposure..and I have been playing these sports and keeping the same habits for many years and I never have things like this happen. The only explanation besides herpes I can possibly think of is that I just caused irritation by pulling at the skin and looking at it..but the only reason I was really doing that is because I was feeling as though something could be going on. I tested negative for HSV-2 last week by blood, so I know I did not have it before this encounter. I am however, positive for HSV-1 as I have known for a long time. This also leads me to think it could be a reason why the symptoms aren't too severe for a primary breakout.
I have an appointment to see the doctor but due to being closed on the weekend, etc..I am not able to get in there until a little later in the week..and in the meantime, I am freaking out. Any advice or knowledge you could shed on this situation would be greatly appreciated. There is just so much conflicting info online, that I really wanted to get an opinion from a knowledgeable person in the meantime on what to make of this irritation / possible breakout.
