Real anxiety from oral herpes scare

I've read a million different things on this. Last week, seven days ago to be exact I was at a gentlemen's club and smoking a cigerette when a dancer came to me. She asked for a drag of the smoke and gave it to her then put it out. She said relax I dont have herpes. A few minutes later being very intoxicatd I lit a cigerette and again she took it and took a drag. I took one short puff after her and put it out. I didn't notice anything on her lips but she was wearing red lipstick and it was fairly dark so I can't say for certain. Now, seven days later I have no signs or anything on my lips or mouth but I do have a slight fever and an even slighter throat ache. I live in a cold area so I'm hoping the weather is the cause but I've become EXTREMELY paranoid of oral herpes. I know Its not likely but I am in a very serious relationship. Should I be worried and more so should I avoid kissing or oral/vaginal sex with my gf? Please help! Thanks so much in advance.

I actually only smoke "recreationally" meaning now and then. Which made it that much worse for me, that I bummed a smoke and then this all happened. Either way thank you very much to all who responded you've all helped tremendously. This is a great site and it's really awesome that people like you, grace, minnie, cjc, world, are out there to help people lle me out. I'll stop posting now grace, I promise!

statistically 1 out of every 2-3 people you've ever kissed in a lifetime has oral herpes. Most folks who do, don't get obvious cold sores to know it. If you've never been tested for herpes yourself,  you might even have hsv1 and not even know it.

As an adult, oral herpes is transmitted through romantic type kisses. you won't get it from sharing a cigarette with someone.  A more valid reason to worry about would be that you smoke in general, not that you could get hsv1 from a stranger sharing a cigarette with you.

So many people have oral herpes that it can hardly be called an "STD" and the absolute LAST thing you should be doing right now is worrying. Sometimes stress can cause canker sores and fever blisters so by worrying you will just make it worse. Get a good nights sleep tonight. You're probably okay

I know the generalities I've read a million posts and info, I'm asking for more specific info, like is the tingling profound, can it get slightly reddened before outbreak
Or is it clearly/obviously red? Etc etc. I know there are people with more serious concerns on here, I'm just getting to the point of break down over this so any help is greatly appreciated. Sorry grace if this is overboard. I'm just really concerned!

I may just be paranoid but I think I may have a dark spot on my lip. No pain, no tingling, no itching. How long does it take for a herpes/cold sore to actually develop? This is crazy. I'm freaking out over this

From what I understand the virus only lives outside the body for seconds.  Besides, it would take one hell of a lipstick application to cover up an obvious herpes sore.  Even if she had one, it seems unlikely that enough of the virus would transfer over to cause infection.  Still, there's a 50-50 shot you already have HSV-1.  Best thing to do is get tested.
