Red Pump on my Finger

From time to time I get this one off tiny red pimple on my finger.

Its red and hurts when I press down onto it... The one I currently have, has a tiny white head on it which I stupidly popped and the pimple being slightly swollen.

I suffer from moderate acne and I have HSV1 orally - Blood test approved.

Does this sound like herpes whitlow?

Your immune system against the virus is quite strong.

The pimple on your hand is certainly not HSV1 so no need for concern.

Okay great to know - thanks! I just wasn't sure what this random pimple was as its quite sore and when I searched the net, herpes whitlow results were the first to come about.

And I know I've had HSV1 orally so I thought it may be related.

How come its not possible to get the virus in a new location?

By accident I rubbed my eye with the pimple on my index finger - I was half asleep when this happened and panicked after I realised what I did.

In almost all cases, whitlow of the hands appears around the finger nails as small blister clusters.

Hence what you have does not appear to be related to herpes.

As you have oral HSV1, it is also not possible to become infected elsewhere on your body.

Its not a cluster of blisters.

Its only one red slightly swollen pimple with a tiny white head - It looks exactly like a pimple
