Red bumps then testicle rash

About 3 days ago I noticed 4 red bumps (approx .5mm) on the base of my penis, the tip of my penis, and on the shaft. They were painless and did not itch at all.

The bumps have since disapeared (in two days), but now there is a red irritation on the top of my right testicle about the size of a dime. I cannot be certain if there is fluid present or not, but there is definitly a disruption of the skin of some sort. The irritation did not occur in a location that a red bump had previously been.

I have had other symptoms, such as severe anxiety, chills, loss of apetite, and back ache. I cannot be certain these are related, since this has occured during a ski trip and I have put forth pretty strenuous physical exertion each day. Additionally, my girlfriend has recently had a cold, so it is possible I contracted what she had.

There were no open sores on my penis at any time, nor have I had a history of prior outbreaks or other genital skin irritations. There is also no itchiness. Other than my girlfriend, I had one single episode of unprotected sex 6 weeks ago, but no symptoms have been present until now.

1. Could this be herpes?
2. How long does it take for fluid to form in the irritation?
3. Should the irritation be raised? (My rash is flush with the skin)
4. Is the preliminary breakout typical on the testicle and not the penis itself?
5. Does the ulcer develop only where the virus entered the body?
6. What is the timeline for a clear fluid filled blister to develope?

Thank you very much, I am driving myself crazy.

Put the penis down and back away from it slowly dude!!!  No really - checking your genitals every 45 minutes?  They are liable to get a chaffing rash just from all that in and out and up and down of your pants from that!!!  You also are just adding to your anxiety about it all too by doing that.  Limit yourself to only checking your genitals 1x/day - right before or right after the shower.  There's really no reason to check them more often than that.

This really sounds more like a fungal infection than anything. Go see your doctor monday and have it looked at to confirm it.  Your gf has been sick and it sounds like you've caught it too and your genital issues sound completely unrelated to everything else.

Update:

Still no sign of blisters, but the dime size location on my scrotum is still red and leathery (possibly from me checking every 45 mins). This marks 48 hrs since I first noticed the red discoloration on my testicle, so if no blisters have appeared is that a sign I am in the clear?

Additionally my mild aches and chills have subsided, although there is still some residual soreness.
