Red pimple like dots on buttocks - herpes?

Hi I hope you can put my mind at rest.....
6weeks ago I slept naked with a boy but had no intercourse but there definitely wouldve been skin to skin contact. Exactly 1 week after I was at the gym and was wearing a pad it felt like it was rubbing between my bum cheeks. I had a shower when i got home and it stung a little. The next night I went to the toilet and wiped my bottom and it stung. I had a look in the mirror and there was 2 red sores just on the inside of both cheeks one on each side directly across from each other they werent open sores just looked like chaffing. I waited a week and they pretty much healed in that time. Anyway I still went to the doctor and she said that the marks where the sores were dont look like herpes as the skin wasnt broken at all. The next day I had tingling on the right bum cheek but couldnt see anything. The tingling continued for a week and I was feeling it on the left cheek aswell now. It was another week before the tingling stopped and I started to feel pain down the back of my leg and also in and around my hip joint and groin. I still couldnt really see anything on the skin except a tiny redness like a little rash but not really just a few dots that werent really red. So I went to the doctor again and I told her all this and she had a look and said she couldnt see anything and she doesnt suspect herpes. It now has been 5 almost 6weeks since the 1st symptoms and I have red pimples in different places on my bum cheeks more towards the groin area. 2 have had a head just like a pimple does and quite red around it. I picked one and it healed straight away. Oh and I still have a mark from the 1st 2 sores.

Do you think this sounds like herpes?
If so if I dont have any open sores how can they test to see if it is?
I dont have any symptoms in or on the vulva or anus.
Please help I dont want to go back to the doctor to be told im worrying about nothing again Im not going to be convinced until some sort of tests are carried out. Ive read alot about herpes and I know how hard it is to be diagnosed.
I havent had sexual intercourse and little sexual contact for about a year as I also suffer from vulvadynia so I know this would be a new infection if so.
Please help. Thankyou for listening.

Herpes is transmitted via skin to skin contact....you don't have to have sex. And you do have herpes, a cold sores is herpes!

Ever since i got back from overseas i've had these little red pimple like things on my butt cheeks. Sometimes i get a red non-itchy rash on the bottom of my bum where my legs start. This all started on my stop over in Korea and a weird bug bit me. My Dad thinks it could be because of the  bug, but i'm not so sure. They went away for a little while but have recently came back, and so has the rash, But that could be because of the heat. And i get coldsores all the time.

I've never had sex, so It's not Herpes.

But i don't know what it is

OK thankyou was starting to think that could be the case. Do you any ideas what could be causing the tingling and muscle pain?

If you are using a body puff to exfoliate with - if you don't clean them properly at least weekly they can actually hold in bacteria and cause skin issues. Also showering twice a day is too much. It actually takes away your body's defenses by drying it out.

Yes you can get a bacterial skin infection from direct skin on skin contact.  Don't ever underestimate what bacteria can do!

Ok well Im starting to think maybe it isnt herpes as the pimples come and go so quickly and dont look like sores just tiny dots. The creamy yellow heads are very small and are not ***** at all. Im confused to think its an bacterial infection though as I shower and exfoliate twice daily...but I dont know if this makes any difference. If it is an bacterial infection could you explain why I would be experiencing tingling and muscle pain?? Is it possible to get an bacterial infection from skin to skin contact with another person? I have had a staf infection in my vulva area before.....Is there anything you suggest I try with regards to the skin until I see my doctor?

I think you are obessed with herpes. Creamy yellow spots sound more like a bacterial issue than herpes.

I just wanted to also add that I still havent had any vulva symptoms this whole time which I thought I definitely would because having the vulvodynia Im extra sensitive in that area. I wanted to ask how high are the chances of herpes being transmitted to the skin of the buttocks cheek from just skin to skin contact? I only slept naked with this person no intercourse or other sexual contact.....I know the symptoms Im experiencing now could be from a previous exposure but Im pretty certain they arent as I havent had any sexual contact with anyone for over a year (because of the vulvodynia) and it has been over 4years since Ive had unprotected sex. During that time I have been to and from doctors having all sorts of test to see whether I had vulvodynia or not and have regularly been tested for all STDs including herpes blood test every 6months or so.....
Thankyou again I hope you can answer some of questions until I get to my doctor!

Hi grace
Just wanted to let you know I have booked in to see my doctor when i return from overseas which is in 11days. I still seem to be having symptoms....it has been 8weeks now! Im still getting pimples all over my buttock cheeks and still experiencing tingling and pain in bum muscle and down back of leg everynow and then. Pimples come and go but most of the time there is at least one and they seem to come up in the same spots. The are never grouped just all over with a single head that is a creamy yellow colour. They never burst, just fade away. They dont hurt to touch just feel like a stinging feeling. When I wake they seem to have faded but flare up as the day goes on usually if I sweat or am sitting for long periods. I guess Im asking if there is any other skin condition other than herpes that could be causing this? I need something else to think about until I see the doctor!!!!
Also would you please be able to list all the swab and blood tests I can have done, just so Im prepared when I go to the doctor. I dont want to go back and forth anymore I have already seen the doctor twice with no answers Im going crazy!!! I need a diagnoses!
Thankyou again for your time!

I answered this in the STD forum.  Grace and I are giving you the exact same answers, so you really don't need to post in both places.

Ok thankyou again for all your help. It is so good to have someone to talk to you!
As far as Im concerned I will wait another month and get a Herpes Blood type test to see if HSV2 does show up. But if it doesnt what else could be causing these symptoms?
Tingling
Slight red patch on buttocks cheek (very slight)
Pimples that are quite red with a single whiteish head in this area
Pain down back of leg and in and around buttocks, hip joint and groin
A slight stinging feeling when brushing hand across area mentioned

I dont have ANY symptoms in vagina or vulva area
I did have swollen glands in neck when I had a sore red throat and coldsore on lip but this has passed now and I dont have any flu like symptoms at the moment
Ive now been experiencing these symptoms for 5weeks with sexual encounter being 6weeks ago.
Thankyou again for your time I am feeling alot better mentally

You won't transmit the virus to kids thru changing their diapers. It's not an issue.

Ok so now Im freaking that if I do have herpes I couldve passed it on to the children Im looking after. They are both in nappies so of course Im changing them all day. They both have a bad cold and have had tempertures etc. Ive noticed the youngest one has little red dots, almost like blisters around his testicals and in the creases around there. He is teething really bad aswell so he has really bad soiled nappies which does cause his bottom to be really sore and often breaks the skin but Im just freaking that this time its herpes!!! I know Im prob over reacting but what if it is?? They are not my children what will happen if it is? Im making myself sick over this that i couldve passed it on. Please help me!!!!
I guess my question is what are the chances of me passing it on if i have touched the area on me where i think im having an herpes outbreak then forgot to wash my hands and then changed their nappy....?

No because I dont have any vaginal or vulva symptoms its just all been on the buttocks and near the top of my leg like in the creases of buttocks and pimple has come up there. And near the groin area.
Its so frustrating because my vulvadynia has be really good I havent had any symptoms for a while. Now this is happening I just hope to god I dont have herpes! I have been so careful and it would just complicate things even more for me. I have enough issues when it comes to sex with the vulvadynia!!!!
I think I got the thrush because I was sooo stressed and still am!

You had a yeast infection at the time of your symptoms.  Sounds more like irritation than anything. Did they retest you at your 2nd appointment to make sure you don't still have yeast or you didn't over correct your ph and have bv?

Hi thankyou very much for your reply.
Yeah Ive had a blood specific blood test before and of course was positive for HSV1 like most people. Yes I was tested for all other STDs at my 1st appointment I had thrush at the time but thats not unusal as I tend to get that around my period because of the vulvadynia Im quite sensitive to it. I treated it and it went away. There wasnt any oral sex involved we basically just slept. I also forgot to mention that about the 4week into the symptoms I had a sore throat, swollen glands and got a coldsore on my lip. I treated the coldsore with cream and it went away within 4days. I guess alls I can do is wait and then get the blood test.
Any other advice.....?

The risk is small but you can contract herpes without actual penetration. Did you engage in oral sex at all too ( receiving that is )?

When you have vulvodynia it further complicates things unfortunately.  Anything can cause irritation and pain sometimes :(

At this point I recommend waiting another month and getting a type specific herpes igg blood test just for peace of mind.  Chances are good you've never had one before - it's not a part of routine testing at most clinics.  If you wait one more month then you can just test for herpes once and be done with it. If you test + for herpes it won't help you narrow down if it's a new infection or an old infection or not but it will answer your herpes questions at least.  Just because this is the first time you think you've noticed symptoms - doesn't mean that it's a newly acquired infection.

Meanwhile should you get new symptoms - see your provider. Have they tested you for yeast and bacterial infections at all since this started?
