Reoccuring rash

by jack182, Nov 09, 2009 08:37PM
It started with a red, moist, rash about 3 weeks ago. it was on the underside of my penis, which looked raw. It did not hurt or have any pimples in it. Then about a week later I developed two tiny spots that looked like paper cuts, each had about 2 or 3 tiny pimples in them. they did not hurt, blister, or crust. they simply dissapeared after about 2 days. I went to a doctor who told me it looked like herpes. He did two cotton swab tests in my urethra, which both came back negative. Now, about two weeks later, I've developed a single red pimple on the top of my penis. Again, it does not hurt. I have no discharge, but maybe have a slight pain deep within my urethra. No pain when urinating. What are my options at this point? blood work?

If the swab was tested for HSV2 and returned negative then you don't have Herpes as this is one of the most conclusive tests providing the lesion had not healed up by the time the swab was taken ..... if you're worried then I suggest you have a type specific igg blood test done to confirm the previous swab result ..... also check if you have been using something new i.e Shower Gel, Washing Tablets just anything that you haven't used before because this could be an allergic reaction of some kind.
If it doesn't clear up in a week or two then see your Doctor again and ask for further evaluation of your symptoms ......

is this true? i cant find anything online about testing for herpes from a urethral swab. It seems the only reason to do that is for other STD's. He did two swabs, one for HSV 1 and HSV2 i'm assuming. They were both negative...can I trust them or do I need to get another test?

This really sounds more like a fungal infection then it does herpes. Your lesion cultures were done far too long into symptoms from the sounds of things to be accurate anyways.  I recommend a type specific herpes igg blood test now for a baseline if you've never had one before and then repeat it in a few months just in case. How long ago had you last had sex? do you have a regular partner?

It's probably best to have these looked at again too to determine what is really going on.

Well, I have something else. I noticed a red puffy bump last week as I went to scratch an intense itch. It was about the size of half a penny, and was bright red and puffy. Heres the thing...It only itched twice in the week, during specific times. Also, after a week I still have it, although it is healing. What looks like dry skin/white skin has taken over the center, although the swelling has yet to go down too much. It no longer itches.

Heres the odd thing, it is located on my hip/waist, right where my belt line is. Also, the night I developed it I was trying on pants at the outlets. Not sure if this had anything to do with it.

Thanks

I should mention it was on the oustide of my hip, which would place it on my side, along the belt line.

If you have new symptoms you need to go and be seen again and have them evaluated properly.

Heres the thing, it seems like I have new symptoms every week. I have been writing them down in a diary, and for the past 3 months I develop a new rash/area almost every week, sometimes twice a week. I have an appointment in December, but untill them I'm panicked.

Final questions...
-I have NEVER had any type of pain associated with these problems.
-Can herpes be this active...almost in a constat state?
-Can you have these types of outbreaks and not get any pain or ulceration with herpes?

why not see a dermatologist then? Weekly rashes/symptoms, are not due to herpes.

Can you have two simultanious outbreaks at the same time? As one is healing, I noticed a cluster of fluid filled pimples on the base of my penis, which may or may not be hair folicles, but they seem to be increasing.
