Results for HSV II IgG/IgM

Hello.

After reading all posts, I still have doubts about my recent diagnosis. So far, I am aware that IgM results are not that accurate.

I had protected vaginal sex/unprotected oral with a girl last May-June, for about 4-5 days. As a result, I got MC which the MD removed. Recently, this girl was diagnosed with HPV and Herpes (she doesnt know which type). I went to my MD dermatologist to get some tests done (never had any noticeable symptoms or outbreaks for herpes). I am in a foreing country and I do not speak the language of the people here so communication is not very elaborate. The MD has told me that I had the virus in the past, but not now, that I can go home, that half of the population has tested positive for antibodies, not to worry and that I am not contagious.

From the results, I think I am positive for IgG and negative for IgM...

HSV II Antibodies, IgG, Serum    SI Units: 1/320. Normal range <1/40
HSV II Antibodies, IgM, Serum    SI Units: <1/10  Normal range <1/10

What I really want to know is if I am contagious based on these results. I am concerned that the tests done are not good.

Hi HSV is contagious, as I know.
you are luck that belong to those have virus but never have outbreaks. I guess if you never have outbreak, you might have less amount virus delivery. but it is not safe. I get HSV from a man who doesn't know he had it.

it is very stressful of tring to protect yourself also to others...

Unfortunately you did not have a herpes blood test done with which I am familar enough to comment on.  I'm assuming it's an older test that shows results like that , of which the accuracy was not all that great.  I recommend finding a herpes support group in the country you are in and seeking out help from someone there who is more familar with where to get tested at and what tests are offered in that area.
