Reviews about H-Balm o

I've just gotten my second outbreak of genital herpes, at least I think I did. I noticed an itchy feeling and instantly started taking my acyclorvair. I was just wondering if H-Balm by Forces of Nature was worth giving a shot. It seems as tho the reviews for it are pretty good. Has anyone tried it? Any Reviews?

If you've found anything else that seems to be working for preventing outbreaks please share. Thank You so much! God Bless!

when you are taking both lysine and acyclovir, you are getting control with the acyclovir so you really don't know if the lysine is helping you or not. Hsv1 genitally also hardly sheds at all in general too so odds are that it isn't going to reoccur in general and it doesn't shed often to be transmitted to a partner either.

Did you read actual research studies on folks with low arginine diets and lysine or was it just testimonials?

I am diagnosed HSV-1 in my genital region. I find it odd that you claim you no longer test positive. The tests that are run to determine if you have the virus don't test for the virus itself. What is tested for are the antibodies, which once present, are present forever, just like the virus itself. I have been kinda stupid and was with one girl for about 6 months. She knew what I had but we hardly had protected sex. I feel very fortunate since I'm apparently one of the lower percentage of people that doesn't shed outside of the shedding period immediately after an outbreak. I have done a lot of research and found that Lysine/Arganine ratios in your diet can contribute to the frequency of OBs. Arganine is basically food for the virus and Lysine works against the virus as it helps with immunity. I have found a bottle of 250 tablets at 500mg each for like $5 at wal mart and that's enough to have 4 per day (which you can take with your acyclovir) to get a good additional benefit for the cost of $5 for every 2 months. I have seen some research on people who don't use the acyclovir or valtrex and don't have outbreaks by simply creating a high-lysine diet. It's not necessarily about avoiding things containing arganine, but mainly about overpowering it with lysine. research on the topic is definitely worth looking into. I have had HSV-1 for about 1 year now and I have had a breakout a few times, but the main thing I have found that you can do is anything to naturally increase your immunity and increase endorphins in your body. basically just take care of your health. i have found myself being much more health-conscious since i contracted the virus and i have found that the people who reject you weren't worth knowing anyway. i recently found out that more of my friends knew i had it then i knew of and they never treated me any different so that was comforting, even though i was annoyed with the initial person that decided to make the issue everyone else's business.

anyways, i'm rambling, but bottom line, it's always worth doing the research on holistic methods of prevention, such as lysine tablets, even if the research is simply just making yourself more aware of what you're facing with the virus

how were you originally diagnosed as having hsv2?

Hi,

Just wanted to make a quick note to you girls. I was initially diagnosed w/ HSV 2 & have recent tested positive for both 1 & 2. I used to take Lysine along with 400mg of acyclovir just once a day. Contrary to an earlier statement i did find the Lysine to have beneficial results. Also, and this will sound crazy to some, I believe that getting chiropractic care helps also. Reason being, in general, adjustments help you body maintain its immune system by allowing full function of all organs. Additionally, HSV 2 grows on your sacrum (a part of your spine), an adjustment keeps your spine aligned and healthy....make sense? Anyhow, I now test negative for both types. Almost unheard of, I thought i was cured for a while. So maybe im just lucky like that, or the lysine &/or chiropractic helped, but as long as i continue with my daily regimine, the dr.'s have told me that i cannot pass on the disease, since my viral load is @ 0 & undetectable in my blood. Just thought I'de put in my 2 cents; take it or leave it... :)

You can talk about anything here - it's the advantage of online where you know folks can't see your face when you ask about things like your bowels and your butt with ob's....he he he

it does do that in some folks.  Try taking fiber supplements whenever you take it to absorb the extra water in the stool.

Your partner has hsv1 orally. You have it genitally. Your ob's should be few and far between so it really shouldn't be too bothersome for you. And yes thankfully for the most part, recurrences aren't anything like the first one!

That why I'm leaning more towards it not being an outbreak... but at least I took my meds so I didn't have to find out. LOL It felt NOTHING like my inital outbreak! Which was by-far the most horrible pain I've ever felt in my life. I remember walking from class back my dorm crying in the rain because I could barely walk.

My boyfriend, who infected me with this during oral sex, has OHSV-1 (although he's never had a cold sore, that he can remember) so he has built up anti-bodies against it. He feels incredibly guilty for doing this to me and wishes it was him who got it instead so that I didn't have to indure the pain. But I just said it was one of those things in life that just happens; And I'm not upset about it.

When I take my acyclovir I seem to get diarrhea...Does anyone else get the same?

Most folks who have hsv1 genitally, aren't getting frequent ob's and it doesn't shed very often. It's up to you if you feel that it's worthwhile to take suppressive therapy or not. On average the virus is only active less than a dozen days out of the year so the odds of having sex on one of those days is pretty low.

valtrex and acyclovir both work the same. you just have to take acyclovir more often. It's way cheaper than valtrex.

I use acyclovir for suppressive therapy. I didn't tolerate valtrex when I used it and my insurance practically gives away acyclovir.  I'm quite used to taking medication 2x/day after all these years so it's not a problem for me to remember it.

I take Valtrex once daily for suppression. Even with insurance my copay is $45 a month. It makes my outbreaks less painful and get over faster. I still get outbreaks while on this medication and part of that may be due to the fact that my husband has HSV2 also and does not take an antiviral. He usually doesn't show symptoms however and so I guess I'm getting the outbreaks from viral shedding. The whole time we've had this together I have gotten 6 outbreaks while on medicine and he has only had 3 outbreaks that were noticeable anyway. So, food for thought I guess.

LOL YES! I love being a girl but I had no idea it could be this hard. :)

I'm gonna do the 800mg 3x/day for 2 days if I have another outbreak.
What do u take for a daily suppressive?

I do have GHSV-1, so I was very lucky there. (well as lucky as I can be in this situation)

What about Valtrex? Does it seem to suppress the virus more than the daily acyclorvir therapy? I wanna make sure I'm on the best possible meds. The on-campus nurse just wrote me a prescription and sent me on my way, so I'm just now learning about how it works and all the possible ins-and-outs to this thing.

Sometimes it's a chicken and egg type situation - you don't know what came first. You did the right thing though by starting antivirals so that if this was herpes, it didn't turn into a full blown ob.

The easiest dose of acyclovir to take for ob's is the 800mg 3x/day for 2 days dose. Much easier than the 400mg 3x/day for 5 days dose.

Sometimes it just suck s to be female doesn't it?

I'm not to sure that this was an outbreak. I was getting itchy have wearing my swimsuit bottoms for most the day. I didn't wanna take any chances on getting a full-blown outbreak, so I started my acyclovir regimen prescribed during outbreaks. I continued to be itchy 3 days later, I looked down there and I was mostly red with some white stuff in my folds. (LOL) I started using some anti-fungal cream and its seems to do the trick; I'm not itchy anymore. Maybe I over-reacted and assumed I was getting an outbreak when it was really just irritation???

for most folks being out in the sun isn't a trigger for their genital herpes but if you figure out that fun in the sun ( or running around in a wet suit tugging all over your genitals ) is a trigger for you then anytime you know you will be doing so, you can take a round of antivirals to help ward off an ob.

I take daily suppressive therapy.  I get too many ob's not to otherwise.

Lysine really doesn't do anything for genital herpes. we don't recommend it here. The only doses that did help in 1 study were the 1gm 3x/day doses which adds up in price as well as in effort. we also don't know if lysine reduces shedding or not which if you have herpes and your partner doesn't ( known as a discordant relationship ) is just as important as the number of recurrences you have.

You can get daily suppressive therapy with acyclovir for under $20/month even if you don't have insurance. why not consider going on it for awhile so that you don't have to worry about ob's since it's a recent infection for you?

Awesome! I'm gonna give the TTO a shot then! Do you take anything for suppressive therapy? I found a website saying Lysine supplements seem to work very well for some people. I believe my outbreak was due to spending a few hours in the sun.. I noticed the tingly feeling the day after laying out to tan. Is there anyway I can still get a good tan without getting outbreak from the sun? Ugh, thats a little irratating. I just wanna be able to go floating and tanning with my friends, and be a normal college student.

I'm cheap by nature ( and poor by checkbook balance....lol ).  I use tea tree oil myself. I used to be able to get a decent sized bottle for under $5 at walmart but I can't find it on my local walmart shelves any more.  You can usually get it for under $10 at many places if you look around.  Just be sure to dilute it before using it ( wet a cotton ball and put on a few drops of TTO is how most folks use it ).
