Risk factors in homosexual relations

Risk factors in homosexual relations

I have suffered from perineal (and maybe anal) herpes for many years which I control with antivirals. Recently I have decided to have a sexual relationship with another man and I do not want to infect him. What are the risk factors? What can I do and not do with this man to minimize the risk that I would infect him? Is oral sex risk-free for him? For me? Will condoms allow safe anal sex? Is it possible to infect him casualy by sleeping in the same sex and being close to him?

First thing I recommed is that he get tested to know his own status. Assume nothing. Also of course hiv testing is a good idea too.

We don't have the same stats for gay couples as we do for hetero couples unfortunately. Daily suppressive therapy for you would reduce your partners risk regardlessof their gender.  Condoms are also helpful. The two of you can discuss if barrier protection for oral sex is something you want to do too or not.

You will not infect someone by cuddling/sleeping.
