Scared

Nearly 5 weeks ago I recieved unprotected oral sex from a stranger in a drunken state.  Big mistake.  Within 24 hours, I had a tingle in the tip of the penis.  Within 36 hours fatigue and muscle aches and pains started.  Particularly in the buttocks.  4 days after the incident, I saw a dr. who prescribed me a z pack and cipro "just in case" as I was freaking out.  He inspected me and things looked fine despite the symptoms.  Symptoms continued so I went back, now 12 days since the incident and saw another dr.   The tingling and stinging at the tip continued and the fatigue and aches were difficult to deal with.  At this time the tip of penis is irritated and redder than usual.  Dr inspected me again and said he saw nothing.  Took urine samples and bloodwork for all std testing except herpes.  All tests negative.  At the 4 week and 3 day mark, symptoms continued so went back.  Penis tip still irritated muscle aches, and fatigue is on and off.  Symptoms are not always there, but sometimes they are, sometimes are they not.  Dr inspected me and still sees nothing wrong.  Noticed jock itch and fungus.  I'm now near 5 weeks since the incident and the symptoms continue.  No signs of lesions or blisters, but still irritated tip of penis and recurring symptoms.  Does not hurt to urinate, but starting to get freaked out about herpes.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance.

Yes I know, but the mind can drive one insane.  Confirmation can do a world of good, particularly when Dr's. have no answers.  Thanks for your help.

Forgot to add the test was Herpeselect.  Not sure if that matters.

Well Grace, at nearly 11.5 weeks, my IGG tests results are as follows.

HSV1 = .12
HSV2 = .04

Sounds like I'm in the clear and need to pursue other options for resolving my problem.  Make sense to you?

Thanks

then if you test + for hsv1, no way to know if it's a newly acquired infection or not. don't be surprised if you do test + for hsv1 as most adults will do regardless if they can recall obvious cold sores or not in their past.

Thank you so much.  I have a follow up visit soon and will grill him.  Will probably demand the igg test just for my minds sake.

well you've ruled out std's as a cause. odds are this is irritation or a mild fungal infection more than anything. too bad the urologist wasn't able to offer more than they apparently did :(

herpes would not cause these symptoms like this for this long.

Hi Grace.  I wanted to follow up and posted on STD board as I'm asking about both Herpes and STD's, but Vance said I need to post here.  Apologies if I'm screwing this up by posting everywhere.  I saw a urologist and they were clueless.  Prostate exam came out fine I guess.  They did urine culture and that turned out fine.  Also had a urethral swab looking for bacteria and that came out fine.  So at 10+ weeks I continue to have daily irritation / stinging on the penis tip and perhaps inside the urethra.  Still no obvious lesions or blisters but the redness comes and goes throughout the day.  Almost as if something causes a surge, then it fades back.  Some days the symptoms are worse than others.  I had one discharge a few weeks back but can't tell what it was.  Some times when I look inside I see a cloudy fluid but doesn't come out.  Any thoughts further thoughts on this?  Thanks all for your kind input.  This is really wearing me down mentally.  Could this be a neverending outbreak with perpetual prodrome?  Or perhaps fungal?

Thank you Grace.  I presume you don't think this is Herpes then?

almost any infection will cause those symptoms, not just herpes.

So you don't feel as though this is herpes?  The fatigue and muscle aches are getting annoying.
Thanks Grace

well if this was irritation and/or a fungal infection, the antibiotics would only make that linger around longer.  it's unfortunate that the original doc didn't do some basic testing for you :(

To clarify, the antibiotics were first.  Then the urine testing after antibiotics were done.  Took a 1 day doze of Z pack (4 pills), and started 10 day supply Cipro same day.

Thanks Grace.  The second visit which was two weeks after incident and post antibiotics included urine testing for the usual suspects.  Everything came out negative.

this doesn't sound like herpes going on.

has any of these providers done any urine testing or just thrown medications at you hoping that they work?

have they manually inspected your prostate too?
