I am looking for some clarity. Im positive with HSV 1. Ive never detected an "initial" outbreak, or "first episode". Either way, my gf now has it too. Her point of infection, however, was her genitals. So I have several questions.
How likely is it that HSV 1 contracted through the genitals will move to its "preferred" site; the mouth, and break out there? Is auto inoculation a real/practical concern? My worry is that I do not know which part of my body I contracted it through. I've never had any ulcers or blisters on or around my mouth or penis
. So I really don't know how exactly I gave it to my gf? But If i have an undetectable exposure at any given time, and we engage in the usual, which means everything everywhere, will I transfer HSV 1 to a new site? or create a new point of infection?
I have read a lot and understand that a strand of HSV 1, contracted outside its preferred site will have few if any break outs over time. So, HSV 1 contracted through the genitals will have few if any break outs since its preferred site is the mouth. Is that a substantiated fact, or mere conjecture?
