Shedding

I have had gental herpes for 30 years and have been taking acyclivor 200 mg/day for about 10 years.  My outbreaks have been few for the last 10 years, mostly when I do not take if for a period of time..  Is there another dossage which would minimize shedding and the possibility of infecting my partner?  If taking a higher dossage will minimize shedding, how is this medically verified?
   Thanks

the shedding studies were done with viral cultures and more commonly the last few years, pcr swabbing.

Do you know how the shedding studies were done?  Transmission rates, detecting herpes virus on skin, or other methods?

the 200mg/day dose doesn't stop shedding. you need to increase it to 400mg 2x/day for suppressive therapy to adequately suppress shedding to protect a partner.

how did they come up with the doses?  The studies were done about 25 years ago based on doses and symptom diaries. They've also been confirmed many times over with shedding studies too.

keep asking questions!
