when i urinated. Before he did the culture he said it didnt look like herpes but he did the test anyway i also did a blood test for all the other stds the nurse called me about 3 days later and said my culture came back positive but my blood test for the other things came back negative i told the person i was having intercourse
with and he said nothing has ever happened to him EVER but hes going today...so my question is should i go back and get a blood test to make sure because i know i have a vaginal
if this is a newly acquired herpes infection, it can take weeks/months for it to show up on your blood testing.
your partner needs tested with a type specific herpes igg blood test to see what their status is. no reason for you to go back at this point for further testing.
and syphilis? If you aren't sure, ask specifically what all you were tested for.
if your partner was properly tested for herpes and was negative and you are + then that means this isn't a newly acquired infection for you, just your first obvious recurrence of a prior infection. if you can get your partner to provide you with their results for you to post for me to look at, I can be sure he was properly tested. All I need to see are the actual numeric results - ie hsv1 igg 6.7 and hsv2 igg 2.3 or whatever they are.
yes i was just blood tested for hiv and syphilis and other things like that but i just got the lesion cultures done for herpes..
and yes ill get the results from his test and what are the odds of me passing it on to someone else if we were to ever stop dating and i started another relationship with someone down the road eventually (using protection)
the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com is a free online resource that is accurate and up to date. I highly recommend reading it online or printing it out at home. It'll be very helpful for you and your partners. there is also a terrific patient counseling video on that site too I recommend. terri warren, our medhelp herpes expert, narrates it and she does a wonderful job with it I think :)
If you are hsv2+ and your male partner isn't - if you just avoid sex whenever you have anything going on genitally, his risk is 4%/year of contracting hsv2 from you. If you also use condoms and you take daily suppressive therapy with valtrex along with avoiding sex when anything is going on genitally, he is down to a 1% risk/year on average of contracting your hsv2. Very reasonable odds without a lot of effort.
keep asking questions!
i was prescribed with valtrex the first time i had an outbreak but how do i go about getting it again can i buy it over the counter or my doctor have to perscribe me again
